Personally, I'm glad to see that TVR are back.

TVR's downfall from 2000 on was down to the the reliabilty of their engines.

Many may say, they had the balls to do it... AJP and the Speed Six. But, it was the cash from the V8 models that funded these engines and there future models with modern designs.

I loved owning my Chimaera, and have subsequently thought of buying a Tamora on a number of occasions, but am too frightened incase i'm sitting in a time bomb.

In my opinion a car has to be driven, not stood in a garage doing 1k a year.

Well done Smolenksi, I can't wait to see a new TVR back on the roads.

And I would like to draw a line under the Wheeler era once and for all!
Isn't that the chap that made TVR so popular in the first place? Wasn't it during the Wheeler era that the cars were better looking, faster and had some of the most fantastic interiors I've ever seen?

Is Smolenski suggesting that he ultimately wants to start building wedges again?
And drawing a line under yet still using the Tuscan convertible bodyshell - not a very thick line.
This bloke should go back to selling hocensoreders and dcensoreds that\s all he is fit for - given the lack of respect for the deceased.

This culture is not going to fit - except to yuff who have not got a pot to pcensoreds in.

As gorgeous as the Tuscan looks it is still a 10year old design thats just been reborn. Throwing a new engine at an existing car could have been done 4 years ago at Bristol ave. What we want to see are new models, and models with names like Chimaera, Tuscan, Cerbera and Sagaris not MD-1 or what ever it's called. I do however like the sound of the 638bhp bit!!

"We have stopped making our own engines".

Not to mention cars..

Turning up with £25m, no real plan and an obvious lack of focus hasn't worked out too well.

I wish TVR well and look forward to a return, ideally with a two or three model lineup. The current owners, I wish them a speedy exit.

It'll die on it's arse.
It'll be too expensive to build in germany, have no USP as it'll have lost it's identity, and will have to have so many safety systems on it that getting the full 600-odd bhp out of it without nanny aids kicking in will be impossible.
Peter Wheeler said something along the lines of he'd rather fit a spike to the steering wheel than ABS - looking at a lot of current ABS/airbagged/TCS equipped identikit cars and the way they are driven he was probably on the right lines. RIP Peter Wheeler (and common sense).
The 'Wheeler era' NS is so desperate to draw a line under is the era that basically put TVR on the map, and brought some absolutely stunning machinery into the world. Look at what he's thinking of producing now - there's no new body design there, just a new US drivetrain which has been done already anyway.
The balls required to design and build your own engines at basically a cottage industry level should not be underestimated, even if the engines were partly made from chocolate.
Forget that bold era of TVR and you have a lack of business sense at the very least.
Actively slate the 'Wheeler era' as he has done, and you're dead in the water before you've even started, and deserve to fail IMHO.

Several people have already done all and more of what Business Boy claims he's going to do. They're all English and in England - if anybody really wanted a British-made, wide-bodied, Corvette-engined Tuscan, they could have one now.

TVR Brand, as far as I can see it wasn't worth much anyway.

I'd be happy the cars drove better and didn't drop to bits
Go away and play with your two a penny volkswagen porsche then...IF you actually own one of course. rolleyes
Well said, Graham.

If he prefers his pig ugly, overpriced VW clone with its tacky interior and pathetic exhaust note to a TVR (ANY TVR!), he's obviously never driven one.
Typical idiot responses, my tamora was a pile of rubbish certainly compared to the other cars i've owned. Sorry for having an opinion which differs from yours captain fan boy.
I would buy another tvr if the russian can sort out the build quailty and the'niggles' as tvr fans call them . Lack of reliability killed tvr last time, there is only so many people who'll buy a car which will need an engine rebuild within 30k miles. The rest of the car buying public wont stand for it or consider a flawed product no matter how good the cars look or sound
I Hope it comes off

It pretty simple really in my mind, I had tvr's when new and they were great fun I couldn't at that point afford a Ferrari or a proper Porsche so i had a tvr that was faster and nearly finished but I knew Ben and Peter who ram the company and I had 4/5 in a row.

Ok so they weren't all perfect but it was great fun my best day ever was driving back from west witering to chobham in a chim 5.0!with the roof off and great tunes on the stereo. I could never repeat that and wouldn't want to.

Happy days

So fast forward on 10 /5 years there is nothing else to touch them I have a 355, 997 7 series and Aston and a griff 500 which gives me the greatest kicks .... The griff even just in the garage

It's a moment in time for me that never will be repeated ..... End of

If Ns thinks he is going to bring back tvr dream on the wheeler era was the ultimate and I suspect in many peoples minds that won't change !!

If a semi-literate person like you ever had a Tamora (which I doubt), the probable reason you blew the engine up was because you revved the nuts off it before it was fully warmed up. I know several owners of Speed 6 engines who have done 100k+ miles with no problems at all. And most Tamora owners I've met love their cars - as I do my Chimaera.
