Who are you guys trying to kid. That perfomance will always attract another influx of non-enthusiast, Porsche / AN Other performance brand buying, mechanically unsympathetic buyers. The same happened when the styling of the Swordfish Tuscan hit the big screens and again when Sag made the huge splash it did in the motor media. These guys will dabble and then go back to their GT2, 458, Gallardo, R8 etc

The customer he is aiming at is a very different animal to the majority of us who hope to hold onto our P&J for the medium to long term, nurturing and upgrading as we go. Our Russian chum has outwardly stated in the past, he thinks he is going after Aston Martin and Porsche when Typhon was on the table...so you can be expecting to pay north of £80k entry point for your 600+ bhp 'Tuscan-alike'...especially if he is planning on only building 250 a year gives an indication on the level he is aiming for.

Given the 'cheap' manufacturing markets are not even being mentioned...he wants either British or German brand attributes and I don't think he or his intended customer will care which.

Strategically he thinks he will pull off a re-run of TVR's Chim and Grif selling 'value performance' into the Yuppie late 80's market...instead of the city, he will be sending this into Shanghai, Moscow, Eastern Europe etc markets which have plenty of cash rich extroverts wanting something different to dick swing about in the vodka bar or perfomance pound their mates Ferrari, Porsche, Aston, SLS with.

Regretably this concept would probably sell bloody well as a 2 seater under a Tuscan skin, followed by a Macca 3 seater rip off and presumably a 2+2 Rapide / Panamera so some of these rich boys can kill even more of their mates in one go showboating.

If he actually gets this off the ground, it will fly. You can also tell by the fact he stop one stop short of calling us something untypable, that he gives not a st for our little island's contribution to that.
Absolutely spot on.

When will people realise that NS really doesnt care if a group of owners in the UK get the hump & wont buy into his concept? Its a big wide world out there & I would be willing to bet if he does get it off the ground & produces 250 cars a year only a handfull will be right hand drive...he will see plenty of orders from emerging markets that will mean it simply wont be worth the investment in setting up a UK sales/distribution network.

As upsetting as it is we have to accept the glory days of TVR are gone, the world (& particularly the UK) has changed & we have lost something very special that we all loved. But lets face facts, TVR was heading for disaster long before PW sold it & love him or hate him the company probably only survived as long as it did because NS had tremendous amounts of cash to throw at it.

Im sure most of us will take this press release with a pinch of salt, then take the cars we adore for a good thrashing over the weekendbiggrin

So some bloke wants to put a corvette engine in a car, fine by me but its not a TVR, that chapters closed.
Shock horror!

So was a TVR with a Ford or Rover engine in it a TVR?

Or how about a Lotus with a nice Toyota engine?

If Smolenski produces the right car at the right price I don't think there will be too many complaints! But can he?
Sorry, that's not really what I meant, It was more about the Blackpool factory closing down, people being made redundant and an era ending. So some bloke has the Name TVR but that's about all hes got wink

Personally I love the Tuscan, but have been put off buying one by owners telling me about the six cyl engine. A Tuscan with a V8 and plenty of torque would get my vote, but I would want it built in ENGLAND by a company passionate about there brand wink Not some rusky frown

You just know this is going to be a seriously quick car. That engine is amazing in the Corvette, so just imagine the results in the light bodied TVR. So what if TVR don`t make their own engines anymore, times have changed and there just isn`t the money to invest in developing new engines, etc. Let`s just be grateful that this excellent supercharged V-8 powerplant is available.

Well, yes - engine choice is pretty damn good.
But there's more to it than that.

Now do you TVR guys finally understand why us Marcos guys were never impressed by the TSO or Mr Stellegglelilia?

Just cos it has the badge nailed to it doesn't make it one.

TVR Brand, as far as I can see it wasn't worth much anyway.

I'd be happy the cars drove better and didn't drop to bits

It doesnt matter a jot what engine they are gonna use, how many will be built, where it will be built, who will build it, what it will look like, what its called, how much it will cost or if they will bother with right hand drive versions....

IT WONT HAPPEN

The guy is a first class fantasist

Can we now cease to pander to this knobs occasional press release and just ignore him until he actually comes up with a product.

We are back in TVR silly season again rolleyes

I don't want Moleskins to build a company that goes bust - he's fked up far too many lives doing that already.

I don't want him to encourage anyone, anywhere in the world to pay a deposit on his cars - he's fked people over who've done that before.

I don;t want to see him turning over yet more suppliers,he's...

Lets say he does manage to produce a / some cars. He's Presumeably not going to sell cars from the factory gate (wherever that ends up being) so where is his distributor network? His support network?

As has been said by others above... i don't want to hear another single word from him until he has cars. Real cars, avaialble in showrooms to touch, and see, and test drive. If they are good - i mean VERY GOOD, and if they are competitively priced, then they will probably sell. May be not to existing TVR enthsiasts, but they should sell. Can he make his money back selling 250 a year? Probably not
In the mean time, I shan't hold my breath.

As for his references to his predecessors? Despipcable.
But, who oversaw the use of chocolate finger followers in the Speed Six?

Well said, Graham.

If he prefers his pig ugly, overpriced VW clone with its tacky interior and pathetic exhaust note to a TVR (ANY TVR!), he's obviously never driven one.

Bespoke styling, big loud power plant, 1000kg, front engine, rear wheel drive and British.

That's what a TVR is.

That's what Mr Wheeler did for us.

Thing is, if TVR were to ever be successful, these very porsche owners are exactly the people they need to attract, especially at the price range TVRs ended up at.

The little pratt has already drawn a line under the Wheeler era!

Smolenski might be interested to learn that the Wheeler era was TVR's most successful era. Ok it went downhill after 1999/2000ish, but the late 90's 2,000 cars per year heyday of Chimera's / Griffith's will never be seen again, especially with Smelly and those bell-end Oxleys involved.

Even though I love the Tuscan shape and used to own the Tuscan 2 Convertible S... I really believe to come back they need to be extreme and whacky just like the Sagaris was
