The GT-R has a lower drag coefficient and frontal area.
Really? That's surprised me. The M6 is definitely quicker from speeds of 100 mph upwards.
I'm still not sure which one of the two I'd rather have though. Both have plus and minus points, its quite a close thing. I think the final decision would have to be based on what type of driving you do most of.

..as much as I like the M6...it wouldn't see which way the GT-R went.
Why do you insist on perpetuating this nonsense? The cars are closely matched; on a track, the GT-R might shave it - I really don't know but could hardly care less - across some well surfaced moor, there is absolutely nothing in it.
Above 120 mph you need some later Murcielagae and über/Ruffian Swine to pull away.
As for handling, again, in the dry, the M6 is nothing less than a ruddy great Caterham.

In a straight line, it seems the 5 Series coupe has the edge, particularly at higher speeds.
I'm 99.99% convinced of what I'd be faster in cross-country though.
off the fking scale. I'm 99.99% convinced of what I'd be faster in cross-country though.
Have to laugh at the thought of anyone on these 'hallowed' pages being able to eek out a cross country advantage in a GTR over an M6.
Seriously. Get real.

Damn you pistonheads. I have been aware of what an absolute bargain the M6 is becoming for some time. First decent one for <20k and im there. Now everyone will want one!
Running costs are astronomical though. MPG in the teens, endless consumuables required and not as reliable as other BMW's. Doesnt put me off mind.

Less power though, and I'd imagine significantly more mechanical drag?Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
