Fantastic

And I think it answers the Question: Should you spec the PCCB brakes (£5500) on your new Porker?

Clearly it's a No if Porsche don't even use them on there one make race cars!

I'm sure it'll fill its criteria as a regulation constrained racing 911 just fine, which is the whole point btw.

'Specialness' (whatever that means) matters not a jot.

I thought this had been available for a while. I think I saw it at the BTCC at Croft last season.

Only pic I got of it. They all look the same anyway biggrin

These spoilers keep getting bigger, with that one being higher it shouldn't cut strait though your line of vision like the standard road one.

Anyone else expect this to be much more expensive than it is?

For a track toy, I would be all over this!

Gearbox rebuilds are every 65 (running) hours and engine rebuilds every 85 hours ... I think.
Still want one?

Why wasn't it before? Surely it's natural to pick the most hardcore road version when building a racer..

Why!?

Whilst I admire the car, it looks the same as every other 911

is it me or does the 911 grows longer?
and the rear gets uglier?
the bulge/engine is higher? the line disturbed?

what I mean is, this line from roof to back end looks nice>>

Gearbox rebuilds are around every 30 hours and engines around the same

You can only buy it at that price if you commit to a full season in carerra cup otherwise you cant buy one

Theres no deniying the 911 has grown.. but I do happen to think the current GT3 is quite exquisitely proportioned. Yummy.

does that explain the low purchase price? - how much to commit to the full season in the carrera cup?
engine and gearbox rebuilds sound frighteningly expensive.

Oh I agree, I'm sure it does its job very well. It just doesn't interest me very much. If it was a road car, that would be different. smile

Still wouldn't mind a go in one though. driving

I wonder if it could be easily SVA'd? Does the SVA test include emissions tests?

The price is effectively subsidised by Porsche because of the rubbishness of the Pound at the moment

And yes, engine and gearbox rebuilds are EXTREMELY scary. One of my team mates managed to lunch the gearbox in his '07 spec car and was landed with a £12,000 bill.

What we tend to do is sell the cars on at the end of the year to dodge that cost. The cars tend to hold their value very well (particularly with the low purchase price in the UK), and the gearbox and engine servicing intervals can be 'extended' if they're not being raced in a competitive single make series, i.e. the driver's not going to be able to get the couple of tenths difference it makes.

Considering a GT3 RS in road trim isn't exactly plush inside, where do they find the 170kg to take out of the race car!!! (especially considering about 40kg of cage has to go in???) Shows how much sound deadening and stiffners are in even a pretty racey road car these days
