RE: Driven: Porsche 911 Speedster
Discussion
Call me a sucker but I absolutely adore the look of 911 Speedsters. 930 Speedster I love and the 964 is rather nice too.
Yes it's stupid money but for a fantasy garage I very, very happily have this Speedster sat next to my 911 Sport Classic.
Only negative - is that really a speedster windscreen? Doesn't look as small to me as the 930 does in comparison.

Well done Porsche, diluting the product even further. Whilst they're at it, they could bring out a 911 with gulf livery and a picture of Steve McQueen on the doors, and maybe charge say £200k. I'm sure they'd find 200 suckers to buy yet another run out model. Big thumbs down from me I'm afraid.

Just curious but for those not liking the Speedster is it this incarnation or 911 Speedsters in general?
These work for a number of reasons that the latest one doesn't:1. The design is smooth and subtle, however
2. The design is a great improvement over the standard convertible (e.g. no quarterlights in doors, much lower windscreen)
3. They weren't double the price of a standard one.
The other thing that irks me about this is that Aston Martin charged 50% more than the DB7 for the AR1 and Zagato models, which were total reskins of the car and provided something totally different. These to me are coveted cars.
Still, all new Speedsters are sold so there's no point grumbling.
