For the life of me i can't see why someone would pay 12k or more for what is essentially an old e30 with an old v8 chucked in.

No proper brakes, coilovers or any other nice bits, just madness imo but each to their own as they say.
I couldn't buy a car that is that tatty and thrown together for £12k.

Can't believe he didn't let it go for that!

I wouldn't have done the swap in that shell myself, put those bits into a nice dolphin grey 2-door and it starts looking a lot more like 12K's worth. A white 4-door chromie, not so much.

Is there really ?

Private bidders listing means (to my suspicious mind) he got his mates to bid it up.

Edited to add - I would and indeed have bought many similar cars including V8 Hi Lux, V8 Dolomite, V6 Mk1 and 2 Escorts, VR6 Mk2 Golfs etc.

However they have been sensibly priced.

IME this would sell for circa £5k

There is no chance that it really made that sort of bid, ie genuine bid, just no chance at all.

If it did I am going to get the guys who built my rally car to build me a few of them and we will sell them off at the bargain price of £9995 (which is about double what that is worth and will leave a tidy profit at the end).

He should be snapping the arm off that bidder (if genuine).

A couple of years ago i had an e36 m3, Quite a bit of engine work by geoff steel racing with a proven 335bhp out of the 3ltr, ap racing brakes all round, bilstein coilovers, polybushed, arbs, basically lots and lots of very sensible mods done properly which resulted in an e36 weighing iirc 1200 kgs, quarter mile of 12.8 which is the same as an e60m5 and a 56.5 sec lap round brands in my amateur hands. Only thing it was missing was a cage which i know i should have done as it would have added the value as essentialy it was just a modded m3 without one.

I gave the car away for 7k frown i started at 12k but it gradually went down, still miss that car and it was imo better to drive than the 410bhp evo 9 gt i had after.

How that can compare to this e30 which is lets face it a back street conversion of a very basic heavy v8 in it and nothing else i will never know.

To add to GJV8's positive assessment, I am the owner of the E30 Touring which GAMA have fitted an M62B44 to and are now in the process of supercharging.
I would love to see some pictures of this if you are still lurking.

Until you've taken on and battered (straight line not dodging in and out of traffic) Mercedes amg's, All 3 series M cars (up to the v8) All 5 series, and Porsche boxter S's and still going up the tree undefeated you'll not understand how such a 'simple' (as some have put it) combination of car and engine will always be ten times more than what it should sell for you should keep quiet. In fact the only thing i've found disappointing about this conversion is that 99% of races take place in your rear view mirror. It's really boring for your passengers when you keep telling them that you've just wasted an Audi S5 and he's now not going to try to drive past you!
Saying all that though that mine has an mtec 2 kit and e36 m3 hubs with m3 disc and pads so actually looks (and stops) the part that much more.

I have run several such cars the last one being an MX5 with 240bhp running the 1/4 mile faster than a Ferrari 355.

It cost me circa £4k

Sorry. Got a bit emotional and was only thinking about the cars awsome performance when quite clearly it's more the price that's the issue. Mine cost 6.5k so yeah i'd agree it's extortionate looking for 12k with nothing upgraded. Even if I add to that that my engine let go a couple of months after i bought it (Kinda had it coming and I had a FSH spare waiting to go in) I got a second one put in and I still spent less than 8 and a half. F this, I'm jumping on you lot's band wagon. lol.
Haven't got a pic to hand as i'm in the office and I was only adding my 2p's worth so can't be assed to add a pic when i get home.

Anyone still looking for a V8 powered E30?
I noticed this one for sale on the E30 forum (no connection to me have not seen this car) it sounds like a reasonable price and looks like they did a thorough job of the conversion

http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name=Forums&amp...

This listing is for a very speical car that took over 6 months to build to this spec. I actually bought 3 cars to make this one E30 (this car) E30 (Donor for a few parts), An E34 540I sport 6 speed manual (this was one 3 left on uk roads) I used the engine and gearbox from this for the e30, I have all the details off the car stack of service history etc, I did alot of research to find the right donor car to buy to use the running gear from. I will give the new owner all the details and service history of this car to go with it so you have it for reference. I then set about finding a good E30 shell that didn't need a huge ammount of work required to be to a high standard for the conversion. I found a E30 318 locally that had 2.5 conversion already in it! It was a loved example that just needed a bit of TLC. I bought the car and we then set about getting this ready for the conversion.

Any questions phone me on 07826851922

I completely polybushed the whole car (every single bush with powerflow bushes)
2x new sills professionally put on the car
I also had a few patches that were required for the car and then undersealed the whole car.
The car is fitted with custom coilovers with springs for the right poundage for the M60B40 weight,
I also fitted WMS 298MM 4 pot kit and earls braided lines with red stuff pads, also have a woodward bias valve front to rear so braking is top notch. The handbrake also locks on 2 clicks ( had all the rear apart and rebuilt them during the conversion).

The car required a huge ammount of custom fab work for the conversion to be completed mainly the brakes, steering, exhaust system all of these have been completed to a high standard. These projects are often started but never finnished. The car puts a smile on your face every time you drive it and you always get people asking about when you go to petrol station etc. It was built to be a trackday/drift weekend car but I never actually got the chance to use it on the track or drifting I have done around 1000 miles since the conversion was completed but I really don't get the time to use it hence why it's for sale!

Spec is

Shell E30 "89" 318I Shell rust free
Gearbox= 6 speed from e34 540
engine=M60B40 (Partial rebuild when was out of car all receipts present)
Rad= E34 540 rad + electric fan

Prop= custom bailey morris prop
brakes= running a e34 brake hyrdo system on wms 4 pots 298mm red stuff pads and bias valve for front to rear adjustment
Suspension= coilovers on the front, new springs and shocks on the back.

wheels azevs A 17's tyres are all 4mm+ rears are nearly new 1000 miles on them
Exhaust- Completly custom exhaust system made by a friend that runs a car tuning shop if you know e34 the standard manifolds are majorly restrictive! These flow really well!
Whole car is polybushed.
E36 power steering rack.
3.64 ratio LSD very tight and no noises from it

I am sure I have missed lots from the spec list but phone or message me for more info.

Any questions phone me on 07826851922

Bad Points
The paintwork on the car has been touched up with rattle cans (but a good job) the plan was to get it fully resprayed but this would be upto the new owner.
The passenger side front wing has a dent in it near the headlight, and the drivers side has a small ammount of rust on the bottem but you can buy wings for £42 per side I had planned to replace before having painted.

I have litterly spent thousonds completing this car it's ready to drive away with Tax for the next 3 months and MOT till december I have the V5 in my name and all documentation. It would make a perfect track/drift car or just a weekend/fun car!

CASH on collection, could possibly arrange delivery.

Car is located in CAMBS area

Price is £5000 as unsure what they are worth (I have spent way more than this!) but I am open to sensible offers or interested in cool swaps for bikes cars trucks etc try me!
