I said "fkin great goal that yesterday!" to Paul Scholes outside Argos some years ago, after a screamer against Chelsea the previous match.

He grunted.

Don't listen to them, Plato is just testing you. Once he knows you are a real fan he will give you all the time in the world. He'll make you work at it though.... next step is to go round his house, don't go knocking on the door just yet, hang around in a tree, ideally get some pictures on him inside his own house (he'll love that kinda st, really shows dedication).

I met him briefly - liked him. Mind you I met him in his work situation - to be fair he was probably expecting to have a chat.

As others have said - imagine how many random herberts want to say hi.

To you it was the first time, to him you could have been the 5th random this week.

That's exactly what came into my mind when I read the OP!

Plato was probably standing in the dry cleaners for 20 mins wondering why there was some hypothermic nutter in a bobble hat and Chevrolet jacket hanging about his Porsche. wink

In contast, a few years ago at a football match I was behind injured Portadown player Peter McCann in the queue at the burger van, we spoke at length about his previous performance and goals. He couldn't have been more personable. But then we were in the correct setting, a stadium full of fans. Had I been waiting outside a dry cleaner's for him for 20 minutes then congratulated him on his GCSE English, he'd probably have been less than open.

The postman said "morning, how's it going" to me this morning and I replied with "shut up you and just post my letters like a good little bh". JP sounds like a jolly nice fellow in comparison.

You waited 20 mins in the cold to speak to Jason Plato?

I have nothing more to add.

Well I am really sorry for running Plato down its just that I was really disappointed about him not really giving a damn about a fan. I did mention his BTCC career (very briefly obviously) but he didn't listen to a word I'd said and jumped into his car.

I have met a few 'celebs' including Tiff Needell who was a top guy who talked to me for over half an hour on a couple of occasions. Really nice down to earth bloke.

I do realise nobody wants to hang around in the cold talking to some nobody but a little more consideration wouldn't of been much. Sorry if my post seemed a bit harsh but I was just a bit miffed really. Perhaps he was in a major rush and he hadn't noticed I was stood outside in the cold for a while.

I don't know...

What would you do if one of your heros stopped in your quiet local village? I just wanted to say hello and say that I was a fan, not expecting a ride out in the 911 back to his house and play 'twister' as another PHer bizarrely put earlier. I just wish he was a tad more considerate.

How did you know it was his 911? You are a fan, aren't you.

A scary one.

Yes. What an inconsiderate bd he was. Didn't even bring you some hot soup.

You're making it worse.

Why would he want to have ANYTHING to do with you? The blokes doing his dry cleaning on a cold day, and you expect him to stand around and chat?

If you didn't want to talk to me
Outside the dry-cleaners, you didn't have to
But you could've signed an autograph for Matthew
That's my little brother man

He's only 6 years old
We waited in the blistering cold for you
For 4 hours and you just said "No"

It has 'PLATO' in big letters across the number plate...
Plus I remember in a previous episode of Fifth Gear him saying he had one.

Saw his grey 911 Turbo parked outside the dry cleaners near where I live and thought "Wow! Its Jason Plato" so I hung around to say hello and meet him. 20 minutes in freezing 2 degree cold and he comes out and I say hello and he shakes my hand. I say that I really like his car reviews and all that to which he just says "yeah yeah nice yeah, bye". Gets into his Porsche and drives off. Can't even spare 10 seconds for a fan.

Its true what they say, don't meet your heroes.
look up the word STALKER!!!!
