RE: Pic Of The Week: Ferrari 458 Italia
Discussion
I meant to say the Sottos are amazing. I was lucky enough to try them at an ice driving event with Aston in Feb this year, they really are something else. As I understand it's more the compound than the tread pattern, I thought I had some better pics of them but these are the only two I could find which show any detail:

Fantastic photo. I can report the car is quite easy to get to that attitude...
It's a fantastic machine, and practical too with good cake holders.
Some pics from a week in NI on their fantastic and deserted roads:
I'm just a little bit jealous. I'm mean... Muffins, double choc by the looks of it too. You lucky devil! It's a fantastic machine, and practical too with good cake holders.

Saw one of these in the metal last week parked up. Stunning design, very angular, very modern. Also surprisingly small.
Not the last word in elegant design however. As much as I like it, I can't love it...unlike this:
Drop dead utterly gorgeous, feminine flowing lines, cohesive throughout and an absolute piece of art.
I understand that of course aerodyamics and all the new fangled stuff gleaned from F1 needs to be incorporated into the design but please Ferrari, let us have a design that is so beautiful that it hurts. I just can't help feeling the latest crop of Ferrari are 'more CAD less heart' and in this world where the car is an endangered species hated by many I think that's a shame.

I agree with your sentiments, although the 458 seems just a bit less wind-tunnel designed than the 430 it replaces (though I'm quite sure it is). i.e. It is not as wing/slot/vented as it's predecessor. But nothing can come close to the design that you included (and I re-included) in your post. Absolutely eye-wateringly stunning. Thanks for the chance to see that one.

Beauty and the beast!
Taken near our clubhouse in Wakefield. Their are plenty of other pictures or our cars on my gallery, including some pictures from our stand at the MPH / Top Gear Live show at the NEC. http://gallery.me.com/paulbrown#gallery
