"Selling on behalf of a friend".

The only time this is acceptable is if the friend is dead or blind. Are they so fking stupid they can't write their own advert?
If thats already been said i'm posting from my phone and can't be arsed to trawl through 4 pages of posts.

The friend is on currently on holiday in the South of France at the moment, with no access to put adverts up. Beside, I can write a better advert than him.

He doesn't have a PH account. You never done a favour for a friend before?

Some people really do talk out of their backsides on these posts.....

Anyway, nice car. I ran an E34 520i for a year, manual saloon in Calypso Red. Very nice car actually, and with the manual, economy wasn't too terrible. Engine was a delight. Shame this is an auto. Still very very capable motorway cruiser.

Good luck with the sale.

Don't know if this was aimed at my comment or at the wrong specced, wrong coloured, wrong gearbox choice granddad mobile but either way, fair enough you're right smile
Wrong colour on your opinion, but most have taken a liking to it! And, it's different, compared to the usual colours they appear in...
Apologies do ignore me i'm just miserable because where i live i can't buy an older more interesting car because the traffic is too bad and the thought of breaking down in a jam is too horrendous for me to risk, i think red does go in and out of fashion a lot but don't listen to me i'm just Victor Meldrew in my boring Mondeo...

Thank you mate - nice to have some decent comments.

They are a decent engine, and are still adequate to do the job.

Calypso Red is a nice colour - not that common either.

Ok, it's not a touring but it's in nice condition, not too many miles, large service history and every mot it's ever had.

Oh and I got a good deal too...
Nice work, look lovely

No internet in France? It would sound less dodgy if you just excluded the friend part altogether and put his phone number on the advert?! Non?

The car's already lost credibility for having no v5 or history. Why make it worse? Looks tidy though but I'm out.

I didn't say there is no Internet in France, he hasn't got a laptop on which to compose an advert. Plus, he has other things to sort out, which have taken a higher priority.

If he is not around, why put his number up on the advert? He isn't going to show you the car from France is he? Use your brain!

Also, honesty is the best way. I would rather tell the truth about the car, rather than lying and saying it is mine, which it is not.....

Decent motor maybe a tad rich, I got my 540/6 touring for jsut over a bag a sand. Far better put together than the e36's of the same period and mine gives better economy than the m3 on the motorway.

Yeh, those V8s are lazy engines, and waft along at high speed, low revs, when on motorways.

Indeed - I had an E34 530i touring a couple of years ago. That would do over 30mpg on a longish run. Manual but.

Hello everyone.

Thanks for the positive (and negative) comments.

I AM selling this car on behalf of my friend, who HAS purchased a 1968 Camper for restoration.
Does pSyCoSiS hold the record for being the seller of the most SOTWs?

I swear this isn't the first time a SOTW is being sold by pSyCoSiS!?!

My second one! The first one was my Daimler XJ40, back in August. It's a good feeling seeing your car reviewed / critiscised by PH.

I also had a Fjord Grey E34 V8 Touring Auto, about a year ago. Fully loaded spec, but auto. Again, returned a similar 30+ mpg when on a good motorway run.

Lovely sound, even at low revs.

Sometimes with an auto you can forget you don't have a surfeit of power and just waft along till you get to the sort of speed the rest of the traffic is going at which let's face it aint much these days. 65mph in a 2 litre feels much like 65 in a 3 litre after all. Good shed in my view.

Good shedding- had it been a 4 cylinder it would have been a shed-fail.
