Bonkers...

+1!!
Not IMO. Chris doesn't buy prototypes to collect, and Jason buys mostly based on aesthetics.

This was sold through Sotheby's at Maranello back in 2005. Estimate was EUR 120-150,000; the hammer fell at EUR 170,000 (call it 195,000 with the premium). And I see they're apparently looking for about half that now.

I do not get the price in the advert, when you translate it into English it says £750,000 - £90,000 euros
Any one know what they mean ?

I can't work out why it doesn't look right - its just not coherent - is it a lengthened chassis?

The side-on shot makes it look more like an NSX than a Ferrari, and the sloping rear glass area looks all wrong with what everyone expects to be the trademark 345/355 flying buttresses

Having said that, I guess Ferrari designed it NOT to look too conspicuous - that's what test mules are supposed to be

However - how much is an Enzo engine? I reckon the asking price is worth it for the lump alone
the profile pic does make it look almost exactly like an NSX i wonder if honda will present ferreri with a cease and desist order ala ferreri and MR2 conversions! we at honda believe this cheapens our brand lol

It's been for sale for ages. If it really was THAT "important" a car, it would have been sold a long time ago, most likely without having to advertise it repeatedly...

The profile view on that is stunning, I would have a pic of that on my wall if I was still a kid, and as an adult if I had the money I'd have that sitting on my drive, I like it ALOT!

Asking price for this unique collector's car is €750,000, which is €90,000 more than the list price for the limited production Enzo.

I remember that fat hairy bloke from 5th gear wrote a couple of strings about the prototype been auctioned in Modena about 5-6 years ago in TG mag. He said it was black/matte wrapped and was looking more like unfinished Enzo than a 348.

blend in the front wheel arches and rear quarters, colour code the rear panel and side sills, do something about the gaping whole in the bonnet (maybe a grill of some kind) have the whole body re-painted and smoothed (maybe even delete the side strakes) and you will have a cut price enzo that will be a total 1 off ferrari that will not only perform but will look the part! If i had the money i would.. the end product would be unique, better looking than an Enzo hopefully one day worth a mint!

In that case, mine will be up for sale in the PH classifieds for £150,000 later this year. Only two in the world. Bargain!!!

Whoever buys it will be a collector who will no doubt have numberous other Ferraris. Whilst I can imagine it would be quite fun to drive to see what it's like, I can't really see anyone getting this as their only Ferrari. I bet you any money that it will end up next to a production Enzo in someones garage.

It might be a tad overpriced, but as someone on PH said a few months ago, a vehicle like this is waiting for the right person, the price is right, the time is wrong so a vehicle like this is not going to be priced "to sell" to just anyone.

An interesting oddity, but would anyone really take this over a real Enzo?
Not sure why anyone would take a real Enzo - nice bit of engineering but looks horrendous.

Anyone else remember the Ferrari 288 GTO Evoluzione ?

It was the halfway house between the GTO and the F40.

I won't post a picture of the front. It's a bit of a minger.

I love the way these are an organised bodge up. Look at the exhaust above, you can just see them cobbling it together on a friday night.

I remember seeing this in a magazine a few years back (evo maybe?).
I can't believe since then no-one has ripped the innards apart to make some sort of Enzo-based piece of coolness?!

I'd buy it and toddle off down to Pininfarina to commission some sort of swoopy, convertible body for it. cool
