This is a no-brainer. The Boxster, especially the S model which is superb.

Driven for long periods or owned both have you? As the owners that have on this very thread don't agree it's so clear cut...

For what it's worth I'd not touch an early 986 (or whatever the first one was) non 'S' Boxster with a barge pole.

Although I've never driven either, I think I'd go with the z4 as I much prefer the way it looks - I actually think that shape will end up being a design classic. The Porsche just looks like a poor mans 911, itself not exactly rare, but the 4 has a distinctive and unique appearance that pleases my eye. An "M" powered one especially will also go like absolute stink.

As i said it really does depend on what you want! smile

Anyone who says "it's a no brainer" either hasn't read the thread, doesn't undertsand that different people want different things from a car, or has some sort of reading comprehension problem/mental illness hehe

The M is for the wort of people who want a TVR but need to get to work every day. Not everyone who buys a fast car wants a raw, edgy, exhilarating one, and so those people buy a Boxster.

I had a 987 2.7 last year and it was awesome. However I sold it as I'm looking to save some money for once in my life! Was thinking about getting an older 986 or a Z4 myself. Personally I think the Boxster is the better car but it will be more expensive to run, especially around this budget. At 13k or below, I would go for the Z4.

I have a 987 Boxster S 3.2

But I would rather have a Cayman if I could afford one.
