For a car like this, I would want something sporty- there are other better "sports convertible" options out there- Boxster (the one I would choose- the latest 3.4S model was fabulous to drive), and Z4 being the obvious rivals. Don't want an autobox and MB's manuals aren't the greatest. This is more a car to be seen in, than a true drivers car- in my opinion!
confused So you've driven one then? You are aware that this is a new car?

I don't know, it looks like it's got a face too big for the body. A bit like Kiera Knightley.
Finally someone who thinks the same! Cheers! hehe
Unfortunately that seems to be the norm these days. Stick the same big fat gormless face on every car in your line-up whether it suits the shape of the rest of the car or not so that people are left in no doubt about what you are driving. It's what happens when marketing types have too much say in how a car is designed.

I've also never really warmed to the SLK, dare I say it but every iteration always seems to have a touch of the "girlie" or "hairdresser" about it. Much prefer the bigger badder SL.

The front looks very cool in a retro 80's SL kind of way. But the sides and rear look completely at odds with it. I think they should have started from scratch with the looks and not tried to carry over the theme from the last two models.

Not hating but can't say that it does much for me - prefer older models

Looks a bit plasticy and cheap on the inside, but I quite like the front. Shame about the back end.

Exactly my thoughs when I saw the pictures. Those wing mirrors are very Crossfire-esq.

Looks quite nice in red. Do they still offer a manual option?

They have google in cars nowadays? I'm so behind the times. The interior looks nice other than the massive shift boot and Porsche style chrono pod thing. Wonder how aggressive the AMG will have to look.

It is a actually a new car or the old one heavily rehashed? The grille look way too big and square but the doors and rear look like the old car. Not nice on the outside at all. Pass!

I loved the look of this in the spy photo's that were leaked but these official photo's show that it has the same inherent faults which means it looks out of proportion and too short.

Hopefully it will be one of those cars that look a lot better in the flesh than they do in the photos. At least its starting to look more agressive and manly so it's getting there but not quite yet IMO.

i think it looks rather nice - just not sure about the rear quarter wing/light treatment - looks a bit like that hideous lexus CC thing.

Regardless I am sure it will sell like the proverbial hot cakes!

Looks designed for American market to my eyes. Maybe it's the large front bumper, but not sure what other cues are making my brain think that.

This car has got more masculine* looking with each iteration. What's wrong with lithe, feminine cars nowadays?!?

Some nice tech though, which is what Merc always do well...

Agreed. Still an improvement on the old one though; that looked like the alien ant in Men In Black once it climbed into the farmers body...

I've always thought the SLK looked quite dull and not very pretty, with no signifigant evolution of what was always quite a bland looking design. I'd have a Z4 or Porche over this any day.
I agree, (as I have a Z4!) and I'm even astonished that they made the SLK uglier!
The only thing I don't like on the Z4 is its headlights: they've copied them on this SLK!
It was aneat roadster at the beginning, but Mercs are becoming very vulgar in looks. Surely excellent cars though...

Yes, look at Peugeots and Citroëns: HUUUGE agressive hideous badges and vulgar heavy lips!
And most others are doing it too.
