Great inside, yuck outside, sorry but thats how it is.
I think its crap inside too. Same old dull Mercedes interior.
I'm amazed designers of that sort of car don't design a sporty exciting inside. It is as dull as it can possibly be. With large aerators a bit everywhere like in any French or Korean car...

Yes, the Z4 was made to take SLK sales, but this latest version of the SLK is highly inspired by the Z4 but much much uglier!

Looks like they designed another dull MB and tried to liven it up with a tacky after market grill trim kit.

Agree that it has more than a hint of Crossfire to the front end.

Really?!?

Well each to their own I guess. This is rather dull and heavy handed, but the current Z4's styling is absolutely terrible to my eye.

Yes, look at Peugeots and Citroëns: HUUUGE agressive hideous badges and vulgar heavy lips!
And most others are doing it too.
And BMWs with weird droopy headlights and kidney grills the same of small planets. hehe
Or Audi with that massive square grill that looks like someone stuck a front radiotor off a Scania truck into the engine bay and then forgot to cover it up with a grill or bumper. Looks sort of ok on anything A4 class upwards but why then stick it on the smaller A1-A3 hatchbacks in exactly the same size. They end up looking like one of those charicature car pictures you see where the proportions are all distored. An Audi badge on wheels rather than a proper car (perhaps this is their intention)

Indeed. It just seems to be the way that automotive design is going.

The Z4 (or the Boxster) is a proper sports car. This is for girls and hairdressers, just like a TT Roadster. But each his own of course.

rolleyes So you know that this car, which you've never driven or even seen in the metal, is a hairdressers car? Are you really so shallow and image obsessed?

What a silly thing to say.

That looks good, liked the last one didn't like the one before and this one is another massive improvement. Don't know if your average woman will want this though?

Well theyve taken a nice car and ruined it. Why cant the car be its own car, why does it have to portray a crap SLS.

Because it looks attrocious Kam.

The Mk2 looked good. Looked excellent infact but had a shockingly naff interior. This now still looks like it has a shockingly naff interior and they have added a shockingly naff exterior.

The Z4 has vastly improved looks interior and exterior.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree there. It baffles me that anyone thinks this is worse looking than the current Z4.

The last (current?) SLK is supposed to be much better to drive than previous ones, and the steering on other fast Mercs is gets good reviews as well. Could this end up being better than a Z4?

I'm not sure that the old SLK wasn't better to drive than the new Z4. I've not driven the current Z4 but most of the reviews I've read have said it's a step backwards from the previous generation and I rated the mk2 SLK higher than the old Z4 in many ways.

Really?? I think the current Z4 is a work of automotive art and a vast improvement on the previous version looks wise. The metal roof looks 10 times more cohesive when it's closed than the canvas roof and it's also been "de-bangled" which is almost always a plus point for me (except for the 5 series of course). I also think it is infinitely better looking than this current SLK for which the kindest word I can find for it is "awkward". No cohesion in the design at all in my eyes. Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. smile

For very many on this planet, and especially in GB, to possess a Mercedes is THE dream to reach.
But aren't they dull-looking...
And this last one is completely wrong.
The first SLK was a desirable car, but now...
In Belgium, Mercs are butcher's cars.

I agree it's front end is too busy and overblown for such a small car.

I like the current Z4.

But I also think the AMG version of this new fangled SLK will look stunning.

I'll have one in black, please.
