What is it with Aston, they just seem to regurgitate the same old model with a few tweeks here and there and try to convince their customers that it is another new car or at least a huge stride over donor model. I hope Aston wake up soon as sooner or later their customer base will just say , Oh yeah another rehash and then go to Ferrari. wake up Aston, lets see something new from the ground up, something that the public will stop and stare at with envy and lust and not apathy. WAKE UP ,GIVE US SOMETHING NEW.

How very yawn-tastic styling wise, they all look the same. Its beyond matching of styles of other manufacturers.

There is an Aston dealer near here in Walton and there is so little that is special and standout in their range.

Good cars, just need to be more exciting.
Aston's are for class my friend, Ferrari's are for flash.

The styling is perfect, the V12 Vantage is one of the greatest cars of my generation the looks, the performance and a badge to die for.

I had to laugh a little at comparing the jagdeo with the Aston, come on guys.

Are you really saying you'd rather have an XKR over an Aston Martin, regardless of badge, the Jag will never stir something inside of you like the Aston will.
Oh pulleeeezzz. Aston make a nice car yes, but DANG!!!! How about something new?? Talk about a very nice sounding but broken record. I'm bored of them now, they can only rest on their visual laurels for so long.........

...and what do you mean performance? They've quoted Vmax and nothing else! Badge to die for? Pah. No more so than Ferrari.

"Intended, says Aston, to 'bridge the gap between road car and race car',"

"Boot mounted umbrella"

Ah thats why my car doesn't feel like a race car! rolleyes

As much as I love Aston Martins i think it's time for a fresh model rather than keep repeating the same old look regardless of how good the old one looks.

Have you actually owned or driven either? wink
I have a Vantage Roadster the only thing that stopped me buying the Jag was "the brand" The XKR is a far more advanced and competent car!

Seems to me they made more V12 Vantage body kits than they could sell so just put them on a V8 and bingo another special addition, and I love Astons

Er... YES!

Without quoting my knob size, I owned a DBS for 12 months, a V12 Vantage for 6 months and various other exotic metal in-between -- and yes, I am about to buy an XKR.... they are that good. Have a drive of one - miles better than V8 -- former posters were right. Get over the badge thing -- AM is fantastic, I love em, but the reason they have launched this car, the N420, the blah blah blah specials is because they have 0 budget to develop cars.

Time to try and move on.... somehow. Perhaps someone buys another 10 One-77s and they can then launch a DB10

What made me laugh - every normal car has a cigarette lighter on option list, in an Aston it's a CIGAR lighter... smile

Well I would have one in a heartbeat, but for looks it is the Vanquish S for me. DB9 and Vantage look pretty whereas the Vanquish looks like a bit of British Beef and before I get the boring pish about performance figures etc I am talking from an aesthetic point of view.

The 1980's called, they want their encyclopedia of Aston Martin clichéd hyperbole back.
Aston haven't been cool or sophisticated for a long time, despite what Casino Royale and Quantum Of Solace may lead you to believe. They're for people called Mike who work in IT and consider themselves country gents because they went clay pigeon shooting once and commute from 5 miles outside of a city.

They're nice cars but as predictable as they come and desperately in need of a full range refresh with an all new design IMO. The only busy guy in their design department of late must be the chap who knocks the 'S' badges up for new models.

I have a V8V and my father has the new XKR. While the XKR is much faster I would never say "miles better than V8"

First off, since you have owned these cars I would hope that you would recognize they are completely different cars. The XKR is much bigger and feels more like the DBS in heft-thus making it a supreme GT car. The V8V is much smaller and easier to toss on the track and serves a different purpose.

IMO, the styling-both interior and exterior are "loads" better in the Ason....the Jag interior looks cheap in comparison and the front of the XK looks like a previous model ford tarus (US car). The exhaust sound is much more fulfulling in the Aston as well.

If that was not enough there is the way it makes you feel. You could attribute that to the "badge", but to me its the small touches like the hand stitched leather interior that smells like a true British car.

Then you have the people at filling stations telling you how AM is their favourite car while driving the Jag.....it seems most non petrolheads think the XKR IS AN ASTON.

But for 3/5 the price the XKR is a better car for the money.....but when we buy cars in this range its about what makes you personally feel good every time you get in it.

I must be missing something with the V8 Aston noise, I think it sounds dull! In fact every time I have played in a V8V my overwhelming thought has been "dull". Now the V12 sounds far more like a proper motor, fantastic noise that engine.

I found the V8V that I drove to be rather uninvolving and quite slow. Yes, it looks and sounds great, but it wasn't very exciting. Also, I thought the interior fit and finish to be unexceptional. The 911C2S that I drove bested it on all those points despite the apparent deficit of power and the lower asking price.

Horses for courses, I suppose.

Lower front bumper? Doesn't sound speed-bump friendly. But yes, it's one for the wish list.
