£60 to replace a clutch? Seems reasonable. Maybe worth having a go for more but if I'm honest I can't see why they're dropping the 25% off, I'd expect a clutch on a 53k mile car to probably be half worn, depending on use (and the type of car!)

If the box is coming off I'd have the clutch done regardless.

It'd seem churlish since once you've pulled the engine and removed the gearbox you're only a few bolts away from the clutch. Perhaps (just perhaps) they're being nice?

Very good point. I'll ask the question however the car has full main dealer history so should in theory have recent gearboc.

Is it a service part though? I'm almost positive that on my 306 the gearbox oil wasn't in the schedule at all

Change it

A i did the clutch on one recently and the plate that came out looked in very good condition in isolation but when compared with a new one you could see the wear.

If you don't change it then it is many hours to remove the gearbox again

Bargain, to fit a clutch is lots of labour and minimal parts so may as well do it and the fact you get a discount on the clutch is even better.

They just called me and said it free seeing as I've had the car such a short period of time.

Now it wasn't worn out hence my original question and for the mileage/age.
