RE: Mazda MX-5 Passes 900,000 mark

Yes, they are famously reliable, which is a fantastic thing for a sports car!
It's testament to the quality of the MX-5 that it has reached such high production numbers. However, I do think they hit the nail on the head with the second version, and it stands out to me as being marginally better than the Mk1. For me, the Mk3 is a little too far from the car's roots with it's slightly lardy weight, bigger engine and big fat tyres.

erm, the 1-millionth Corvette rolled off the Bowling Green assembly line on July 2, 1992. Since then I think they've made about 20,000 Corvettes year. They're probably on about 1.3 million now
Why aren't Guinness acknowledging this fact? Do they think the Corvette isn't a two seat sports car? Or do they think it has changed more between incarnations so doesn't count, where as the MX-5 looks the same apart from getting fatter?

MX5 ........ Well all I can say is you must have bought a Wrong'un ......honest
Having had mine back after an altercation with a curb she was tail happy, used to shimmy and shake all over the road and was generally nasty to drive. Took her for a full geometry check and hey presto she is back to being fantastic fun to punt around. The moral of the story is make sure the car is properly set up before you make up your mind

Under powered, bland styling suitable only for hairdressers and lady boys.
Burn him!...this is presumably because at least half of all PHers drive one...
I think this is more like it. I own two of these among others (one of the very early pop-up lights and the latest) and both are so much fun.
Fun to cost probably the best ratio of all, if I am really honest.
And I am neither of these suggested above from Mr. Ignorant himself.

ahh i love the mx5 and will have one if i can get insured classicly (21 soon but not yet licenced not sure if exerience or age is key with classic) if the lexus LS400 plan falls through, the only thing that bothers me is like today we overtook one and it was driven an overweight, elderly 'ale drinker' who looked like hed be just as happy in an MGBGT or such, im not sure how to describe this kind of man or woman other than 'likely to have an interest in canal boats and/or birdwatching/trainspotting, and this image puts me off a bit tbh, but the appeal of £180 insurance and rwd open top fun is more then enough compensation
