The mug!
I'll be picking my MX-5 up on friday. I'm not sure whether to hope for a sunny day so I can put the roof down, or some lashing rain on the Northumbrian countryside (I know which I'd put my money on).

If you have light rain, you can roof off.. And still have fun. As above 50mph or so the rain doesn't come in the cabin, goes straight over the top.. Excellent!

I've never seen a later S-Special, what bits does it come with?
I think mine is a Special S... its a 1996 Eunos and has BBS alloys, Bilstein suspension and MOMO wheel. Also has air con and LSD, but think thats standard for a 1,8 import....See the Eunos guide below for the list of "options"
Clicky for the Eunos/import
Clicky for the mx5

I Didn't know there were that many hairdressers about...
So you've had two years to think about your first post and that's the best you could come up with? I would love to own an MX5 at some point, preferably the 2nd gen.
I have a feeling my E30 is soon going to turn into a money pit, and an Impreza turbo will still be out of my reach for a while (being nearly 21) so an MX5 would make a very fun runabout.
looks like Chris Harris just became the anti christ
heres his views o the MX-5, probably because they don't cost £150k, to poor for oh great one

Agree with Mr Harris completely - The MX-5 is just too numb and slow to justify it's billing as a giant-killing drivers car.heres his views o the MX-5, probably because they don't cost £150k, to poor for oh great one

Shame, I actually considered a mk 1 many moons ago...then I drove one.

Everything from EVO to old copies of Fast Lane have billed it as a Giant Killer...
For 2k I'd go for a 205 GTI or even AX-GT if you can find one.
Or if you must have the scuttle shake of a convertible I'd save a few more pennies and get an M100 Elan...
So you like FWD then? For 2k I'd go for a 205 GTI or even AX-GT if you can find one.

Oh, and as for scuttle shake. Drive an MX-5 and a 205 GTI back to back, and tell me which one creaks more.
