Love the idea, but my nephew's 7 so I don't think he'll fit.

Time to crack the welder out!

This is the perfect father/son project. Well, what I actually mean is I'll enjoy making that, now, where's my credit card?

I bloody love these! They're a scaled-down version of the wonderful men-in-sheds cars we've been given over the years. Now if they could just squeeze the engine out of the Noble M12 into one of these...

I presume the drill just claps on one axle with the throttle just acting on the trigger of the drill??

What are the wheels off, did you find out?
The entire drill is clamped to the chassis and there is a simple friction drive against the tyre. The throttle pedal is connected to the drills trigger via a lever and some kind of cord/string IIRC. The steering uses string wound around a bobbin on the steering column - the worst bit of the design IMO, but simple kart type steering would be very easy to make. It's all designed so that no welding etc. is required, but that means there are many compromises.

A couple of Lynch motors and Lithium polymer battery packs and your toddler could be leaving black lines all over the pavement biggrin

I honestly can't remember where the wheels are sourced, if I can find the plans I'll let you know. They were here on my desk just before we had a mad tidy up before Chirstmas as family were over for dinner!

When I was little, I remember being in B&Q with my dad and looking at those plastic wheels they sell, bits of wood, hinges, guttering and various stuff I was sure I could make a go-kart out of.

I've just seen my dream realised. If only I was young again.

A half decent cordless drill ain't cheap though, I certainly wont be slapping my Milwaukee on it!

FI Not built from a green type wheelie bin though, it’s a kitchen flip top bin.
And a plastic laundry basket (grill and wheel arches).

Where is this legal to use? On a pavement? On a bike path?

Only 54 posts before the tone got lowered to this drivel.

Its a kids toy ffs. How is it any different to a bike, mobility scooter etc?

Hah, now *this* project appeals.

Sadly no kids to build it for.

Upscaling of the idea is required...

In the good old days I used 12v cooling fans from a car. Cut the blades off and smooth the central hub and run that as friction against one wheel.

Wheels aren't expensive

And only 55 posts before someone takes offence to a perfectly valid question, ffs. rolleyes

Last time I was in the UK, there was quite a difference between a bike and a mobility scooter wrt where one could (legally) use them. Or can one ride bikes on the pavement now?

So, does anyone know if these toys can be (legally) used on a pavement?
