RE: Driven: Autofarm Porsche 911
Discussion
I cannot describe the joy of driving air-cooled 911. They are just amazing, involving and evocative driving machines.
More then a sum of its parts.
I love mine, which is a similar spec (and colour) to the one above (not as shiney though )
Not sure what they did to squeeze 250bhp out of the engine though. They are 231bhp from the factory... Mine is only pushing 244bhp but I few more horses to come after a few more mile are added and the engine loosens up.

Really don't like the way they dress up one car to look like another.
It's not really dressing it up.A 1985 or whatever 3.2 is, to the best of my knowledge, the same shell as the earlier 70s look this one has with better galvanizing and prep. All the owner has really done is take all of the parts they want from 911s over the years and spec'd up their ideal car.
Seems a superb idea to me.
What a lovely, lovely thing.
If i had the funds available, this ( or indeed a PS Autoart ) would be right at the top of the list. Given the choice between this and a new one there would be no contest for me, not remotely bothered that a new one would lap the 'ring far faster as i reckon this would be much more enjoyable to live with and has more character. Plus, as was mentioned in the article i am sure it could be used every day with fairly little concern about reliability - perfect.

Did you read the article?!? More then a sum of its parts.

Because it's got a 3.6 litre 964 engine in it, not a 3.2? Fittster said:

Whilst it might be a Frankenstein car and I do kind of agree with you there - the 3.6 engine with the 2.2 engine cover lettering would drive me nuts... it is undeniably, fantastically, absolutely gorgeous!Lovely.
I used to have a 1973 911T Targa (RGC 18L). It had been restored and came with all the photos, etc. Looked stunning. I ran it as a daily driver in Central London for nearly 2 years, parked on the street in all weathers. Took it for an MOT and it had a hole in the floor the size of a football...
So, whilst I agree with an earlier poster that if I had the ability to store it away and only bring it out in the dry, an original 911S would be the way to go, if you actually want to use the thing all the time this is a practical alternative.
