Of course it is subjective.
Although what the opinion of EVO has to do with it I'm not sure, and that's coming from a subscriber. IMO people read to much and don't do enough.
For me I loved the 'concept' of the S2000, but the reality was somehow different, not really as rewarding as it should be.. and i've nothing against revvy-NA's; I drive a clio200 now. I have had mine 5 years, its been totally reliable and although not the fastest thing I have had I love it. Handles better and more predictable on Avons. Also my son bought me a strut/rack brace and that has improved the slight dead feeling in steering wheel when turning off centre,I think this was designed this way so more relaxing when on motorway, i.e. not having to correct it all the time. I am an independent engineer and have only inspected one engine that failed and that was due to carbon build up causing the valves to stick, had been using non branded/budget fuel. Only run mine on V power you can tell the difference when pulling at low speed in top from other fuels, easy to get mid 35 mpg on a run. I can get my alloy trolley jack in the well in the boot and use it for work in the summer!
Totally agree about front & rear chassis braces; it transforms the breakaway point & allows maximum exploitation of the Bridgestones - which can be a little snappy for some. Not heard about the carbon build-up on the valves causing explodey engines. I'm sure a valve head dropped off on mine before the rod exited stage right.

That sounds more to do with right-foot buildup on the throttle. Not heard about the carbon build-up on the valves causing explodey engines. I'm sure a valve head dropped off on mine before the rod exited stage right.
i've got one
bought the cheapest i could 4 years ago (8.5k), changed service items when needed and oil checked every time it's driven, it's simple enough i can do all of the work on it myself, i've hacked the seats down 1" with a simple mod
biggest issue - seized bushes, can be a couple of days work if your handy with spanners £1000+ if your not! correct alignment fixes lots of issues and should be done as the first job when you get one (mine was way out and driving on the limit and in the wet was interesting!)

Timing chain tensioner does not need replacing.
