It looks pretty good in this colour. Why oh why oh WHY do people buy these (and similar) and paint them beige or grey? STOP IT!

I'd prefer "Guards Red" but other than that it looks good to me.

Why has nobody suggested the old PH long-term car as an alternative... M6 cabio anyone??

the rear seats really dont count, unless you have no legs they are unuseable for anyone over the age of 4.
Think that depends upon the size of the 4-yr old. My daughter is 6 and fits just nicely in the back of a 911. Which you can't do in an R8, however great it might be. Or in an Aston Martin DB9. I haven't bothered trying the Jag as that looks the same as the AM. So if you want a sports car that isn't huge, can be used everyday, has rear seats that can be used by your children and is good to drive then there aren't many real alternatives. At least, I keep looking but always end up with another 911. If anyone has a real alternative to suggest I'd be glad to hear it (Panamera too ugly, Rapide too big, Maserati GranTurismo lovely but also too big, Ferrari California..don't think the rear seats are useable but not driven one...) I think only alternative is the GT-R, which is undeniably brilliant but also has some shortcomings (for me at least).

Have to 'fess up on this one - Stuart took the statics and details. The only ones from me and my Fujifilm are the Fosse Way road sign ones...

Great stretch of road driving. Used to commute from Swindon to Rugby and used it daily...

For around the same money (albeit with a little less lunatic pace) you could have a DB9 Volante or a V8 Vantage cabrio. Both sound better and will still steer quite nicely...

That said, this has to be one of the ultimate 'all-rounders'*...

* OK, OK, you'd have to excuse the "trip to B&Q" bit of the All-Rounder definition.

This road is on my doorstep (the reason I moved here). I know the feeling: M5 + Cotswold roads = bliss!

I love it but it would be a hard top all day long for me I’m afraid (and not in yellow).
On a slightly different note, what has happened to the 911 second hand values?
They seem to have fallen through the floor (particularly the cabriolets!)clap

3.5 to 60 is rapid for a convertible.

Love the 911 Turbo - my favourite one is the 993 Turbo

You really don't see that many anymore, which is a crying shame...
O/T I know but doesn't it just! Saw one parked on the local high street just yesterday and thought that it looked the nuts...
O/T still (sorreee)...

Giallo Fly cloud9wink

When I was in the market for one, I was drooling over said hued one in Whalley's show room. I really... REALLY!... wanted it. But prices, for me, were prohibitive due to a buoyant UK market (only 220 Giallo Flys made - and at the time John said that at least 20 he knew of, were no longer... frown)

Ended up getting a Blu Madras one (another great, and rare, colour). smile

See bloody loads of them here in Houston, mostly driven by 'douchy' looking sorts. They've got a fat arse (the cars) or a hump like quasimodo depending on how you look at it and they sound like a hairdryer compared to the competition.

Epic.......car..........fail

I'd still love one though biggrin
Motorrad, I think M666 EVO was referring to the perfectly proportioned and pugnacious Integrale Evo... Not some fat assed cabrio Porker (see the previous post timed at 15:59 ^^^) wink

Aha- in that case I take it back, not only are Integrale Evos rarer than the awkward resident of Notre Dame they're more fun to drive.

One of my greatest motoring regrets- buying a diesel Golf over an Evo II Integrale- what was I thinking???????

Part of the problem here is that of image, I'm sure. It doesn't matter how well a turbo cab drives, it still screams "I don't know anything about cars but I wanted a Porsche as a status symbol". Whether or not that is actually true is besides the point, as one poster pointed out "They seem to all be driven by douche-y types".

Amen.

I'd have a 911 turbo, but not a cab. If I absolutely positively had to have the open top experience, I'd go with a Targa. But I'd probably go with a tintop any day of the week.

Even then, I'd still look *slightly* "Douche-y" I reckon.

In my defence I did average 52mpg, just remembering it now has me tingling all over with excitement.

It's well over 4yrs old and has done nearly 50,000 miles, so keeping about half it's value is better than most cars... also whilst I quite like Guards Red it probably knocks a bit off the price too as it's not the most popular of Porsche colours. 911's in red kinda don't look right to me, having said that I usually buy red sports cars and I even had a Red 964 a few years ago and left a deposit on a early 997 in red too!

Isn't Porsche missing a niche in not having a GT3 cabriolet? Whilst a bit of a mis-match, I think it could be done and would be more valid than much of the niche filling that the VAG group does!
