RE: SOTW: Toyota Crown

Hmm 7 bearing crank and Toyota over-engineering. This is just screaming out for a large turbo conversion and some n02. This was the car that made Toyota decide to build Lexus so every James Bond gadget is there to start with.
Alternately, just stick a 3JZE lump in there from the Supra Turbo, and you have a very fast shed.. or should that be house?
£500? Come guys who's going to have a go?

Surely 1UZ-FE V8 would be more suitable here. An you can strap turbos on it as well...

Big wheel in front of you makes you go left or right, pedal under your right foot alters velocity, the one to the left makes you stop. [/leslie nielsen]
I'm here all week, try the veal. etc.
Excellent response, not predictable at all.....Big wheel in front of you makes you go left or right, pedal under your right foot alters velocity, the one to the left makes you stop. [/leslie nielsen]

Any serious comments on how these cars drive, compared to the European rivals?

From riding in a few when I lived in the Middle East, they were very soft. Lots of roll, wallowy suspension and very slushy three speed auto. They also had very light steering that gave almost zero feeling or feedback. A proper old school waft mobile!Any serious comments on how these cars drive, compared to the European rivals?

Thanks for the reply. Are they good engines, those 2.8 straight-six?pSyCoSiS said:

I honestly don't know a great deal about Japanese engines, but I believe it's the same engine as that fitted to the Supra of the same period, being Japanese it should be pretty strong if it's been looked after.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
