I'll start this subject by confessing a guilty secret. I have almost always preferred the estate version of my favourite saloons. What I am asking is.... do other people feel a similar way? I was looking at E34 beemers and thinking that the wagon version is better looking than the saloon. Am I the only one?

It has been said many times that most estates do look much better.

True but most are still looked upon as old fashioned over the saloon or hatchback equivalent frown Well at least by my mates.

I'll agree with every one of those smile but especially the Volvo but then again every Volvo looks better as an estate! I had a 940 and I couldn't imagine a saloon version. oh and to edit this I must add in the RS2 because that was just the ultimate estate car!

Hatches that breed estates tend to look wrong, IMO.
Saloons that have estate versions tend to look nicer that the original, in my eyes at least.

I've been particularly liking this today:

Oh, and worst looking?

I've seen one in the flesh and thought it was rather fetching. I must have been drunk...

Looks alright from the side or front. I do feel that the ass end that it looks like they've rushed it and from that angle I couldn't recommend it over the saloon, sorry. I'd definitely have one though.

Heh, I keep looking at the new ferrari FF and thinking of the estate 456 they are waaay too similar! the E36 estate is by far and away one of my favourites if there had been one of those near me instead of the Clio I drive I'd have been in it smile

Closely followed by the Alfa 159 Sportwagon, Mercedes S124 and the Jaguar X-type estate.

Definitely! To answer the post saying that he/she has misread the title of the thread this is not just about good looking estates but estates that look better than their saloon or hatchback counterparts. smile This Picture is a great example of a car that in estate version outshines that saloon one.
