Not sure where they ended up being done - I had the car resprayed and they outsourced the wheel refurb. I've added some "after" photos to my previous post to show what the wheels were like when I got them back from BJV.
Ah, I can see what you mean - they don't look good. Just goes to show that anywhere can have a bad day. A friend had a set done porrly by by one of the big places that tends to be recommended

Google BJV engineering and check out the bad reviews, there's far too many to be just a couple of incidents of poor service!

True ...but google Spit and Polish and you'll find plenty too!
You can only really go on your own experiences.

I just got a reply from the place that refurbed my wheels...

" If you want the inner rims to be like new, 2 coats of powder primer would be needed and there is no guarentee that this will give a 100% perfect finish. The only issue is if this is done the powder will be too thick and the centres will not fit. A way round this is to have the rear of the rims stripped, shotblasted, fill the witness marks with filler then wet sprayed (we can cut the lips) filler can not be used when powder coating and this is not somthing we do."

So they can double powder coat the insides in the hope that it fills the pitting (hmmm), but even if it does, the centers will not fit.

Or the insides could be properly stripped, filled and wet sprayed which sounds like the proper option. But they don't offer that service!!

As for the machined lips, it sounds like they will do these again - but should I be worried about how much material they are machining off?

Just a quick defence of bjv, they did my csls for a very good price and a great finish. No complaints from me!

If you're around Kent, I can recommend Lepsons. Expensive, but very very good. Had my Alpinas done there:

I had my Jag wheels done at Lepsons and although £90 is on the high side that's the same price as the OP paid for his job.

Agreed though, Lepsons are excellent.

Emailed Lepsons - they don't want to touch my wheels now that they've already been shoddily refurbed frown

That is a terrible job, you could have done better yourself.
Is there any chance of getting a refund?

I had the 928's wheels done as part of the respray. They were refurbed and powder coated black by another company and then the faces finished by the bodyshop in the pearlescent paint I specified.

They were very, very tired and kerbed when they went in and they're perfect now. Would have been 250 quid with normal paint, or 400 with the pearlescent paint, but got it included as part of the respray.

At the moment I doubt it. I'll take them back there and make it clear that I want them perfect or my next move will be pressing for a refund.

Don't quite understand why, but that's why i'm not a wheel refurber! Anyone care to explain.

I really hope you get this sorted OP - that really isn't the best of jobs to say the least frown

They said because they wasn't sure if there would be enough metal to polish the lips.

Also they thought that the outer rim might be made from magnesium (which it's not). But I wasn't going to argue smile

Do it properly, do it once. smile

(Although the resulting 'wheel paranoia' is frustrating. Finding yourself parking 10ft from kerbs 'just in case' and never letting the gf touch the car because of the inevitable).

Agree that looks like a 12 year old went at them with a rattle can.

Prestige in Milton Keynes do a first rate job for reference. Not sure whether they do splitties.
