Porsche haven't produced a Panam' Turbo S yet but I think VW's Bentley Bluemotion might just be the Panam' Hybrid S (for now, at least)
just googled it and you're right it didn't cross my mind I shall now mock him as he has a turbo S badge on the back......... lol the Greener Conti.....

Unfortunately, the more I see this car (a friend of mine owns one) the more I like the look of it. Shameful I know, but I am starting to think it is rather good looking. I should add, that this is a very, very capable car. Surprisingly so.
Quite. Aside from the fact that looks are utterly subjective, what's not to like about this car? It's a super-comfy 4-seater, which can knock on the door of 170mph, happily out-pace 99% of anything else you'll see on the roads and is cheap to tax. Lovely stuff.having driven several variants of these cars, I really cant see what's not to like about them;
ok they may not be the most aesthetically pleasing, but we're supposed to be petrol (or should that now read volt) heads fer christ sakes ! I'm certainly not a felt tip fairy - oo look at that styling cue; oo look how that line doesn't end properly.etc etc.
Porsche have managed to make this car handle sweetly when pushed, yet remain refined & quiet when it has to. Great internal ergonomics for me too; could operate everything pretty much straight away, without reading the manual. Couldn't say the same about a 320d I had as a loaner ! gave up with the 'simplified' iDrive ..
p.s. - despite the name, I don't have a red 997 (!)

Despite my earlier quip, I totally agree with this. Having had time with one, I really couldn't fault it for what is was. I'd really like one in the future, wouldn't pay 100k for one though...ok they may not be the most aesthetically pleasing, but we're supposed to be petrol (or should that now read volt) heads fer christ sakes ! How does that manage 159g/km then? CO2 emission is a direct function of fuel burnt is it not? (give or take efficiencies) Some hard work there getting it to pass that test methinks, careful use of the electric motor in a driving miss Dasisy style test - whole hybrid car market's CO2 figures look faked to me.
If lots of cars manage to squeeze into cheap/free brackets....
...they will just lower the levels required.

Was thinking the same.. Let's see - 2 tonne car + 330hp motor = 50mpg? Interesting..
i bet they found and closed a 10 mile straight DOWNHILL stretch of autobahn and drove along it at 30 mph basicly freewheeling and went "Vunderbahr!!!! 50mpg that vill keep the damn green activists happy" and then nailed it home with a fuel consumption of 16mpg :-)

That is an impressive CO2 figure. Shame it's a fool's errand to try and reduce such a 'pollutant' but you have to hand it to Porsche, they've done well to get it that low.
I DO sense some 'tuned for the test' stuff though..
The Germans? They would never cheat!I DO sense some 'tuned for the test' stuff though..
Impressive CO2 but inevitable all will follow.
Not a fan of this car.
BUT - if they can make cars pollute less (but drive/handle the same), then I am all for it. Whether that means Hybrid technology (which is a bit suspect due to extra pollution generated in creating the batteries and disposal) or by sticking to improved technology (such as bluemotion/efficient dynamics), or any other way, then go for it.
