RE: Aston Martin Cygnet Explored/Explained

I honestly think it's a good idea. Look at the number of automatic Minis specced with every possible extra which live in cities, or £20k+ Smart Brabus which do the same. £30k seems reasonable given the level of modification done to the car, if Barry wanted his Saxo re-trimmed in Aston leather with a new front and rear end fitted he'd pay more than the £18k markup Aston want. If I already had a V8 Vantage roadster and a supercharged Range Rover I'n the garage then one of these would certainly be my 3rd car.
Not quite, but I have a Cygnet, a DB9 and a Discovery… does that countEdited by jamiebae on Friday 18th February 20:17

What a bunch of ignorant, bigotted loudmouths we have on this article. If you want Aston to still be here in 10 years building the fantastic cars they do now, they HAVE to sell as many Cygnets as they can.I'm sure they didn't want to but thanks to the EU, they don't have any choice. There is no way Aston could afford to develop a car from scratch so they did what any low volume car maker can do,and that is to buy it in.If it saves Aston Martin as a car maker, then I'm all for it.You are all entitled to your opinions, but examine the basic and maybe unpaletable facts,Aston had no choice. The IQ is one of the most innovative cars built for many years with many engineering firsts, but to be fair,Toyota could've marketed it better. Porsche have VW, Ferarri and Maserati have Fiat all helping their overall CO2's,Aston had nothing until the Cygnet.Long live Cygnet, long live Aston Martin.
Will you be buying one then?SLacKer said:
I quite like it. I am sure AM have their reasons and if it is to protect the rest of the product line then that is a good thing.
I know that Aston bashing is the new sport so I guess the cygnet will get slammed from every angle.
Exactly.I know that Aston bashing is the new sport so I guess the cygnet will get slammed from every angle.

I just HATE that thing.
Already the Toyota is hideous, but in Aston-version the shapes aren't improved; only the price!
Wasting metal and leather to make THAT?
THIS is pollution.
I have to ask, what do you drive? I am sure you will get the same reaction from someone about your car. Already the Toyota is hideous, but in Aston-version the shapes aren't improved; only the price!

I looks horrid from the outside and it should not be wearing an Aston Martin badge but this car appeals to me. A small, fuel efficient car that has a luxury interior would be awesome for the daily city commute.
Hopefully Aston Marton can shift enough of these that they become almost worthless in a few years so I can pick one up for the shopping run.
Good luck with that, they are now worth more than when they were newHopefully Aston Marton can shift enough of these that they become almost worthless in a few years so I can pick one up for the shopping run.

I know im going to get flack for this, but I quite like it, as far as micro-cars go that is. Would I ever buy one, even if I had the expendable cash? NO, I wouldnt. I just wanted to give my opinion on the overall looks of the vehicle, its really not that bad, although it looks the same as any other micro/city car. But you wont find an interior like that on any other city car, thats for sure.
You have to admit, the interior is ace!
Absolutely, the interior is a great place to spend in traffic. Why would you not want to?You have to admit, the interior is ace!

They came fr;om Toyota. I met a guy who worked at Aston who said he had never seen one, but there were a loads of iQ at Gaydkon used for ru arounds . That were obviously left over from when Cygnet was made. also they buy from toyota factory or from local toyota delaer??
Fun car. Even took mine t;I Brighton Speed trials in 2021, and finished well in the1300 class against some serious original mini
