RE: Meet The 'Cougatti' Veyron
Discussion
This thread has made my day. Do people seriously think that building this sort of thing is a good idea / investment? £55k buys a hell of a lot more than a bodykitted old ford with Halfrauds alloys thrown on ... seriously?
996 Turbo with £25k to spare?
You are basically spending £53k on some nice lights, a few GRP panels and a tacky paint job. Ridiculously expensive for what it is.
A lot of kit cars are great, and their prices are often a factor of what lies under the bonnet. This really is a heap in wolves clothing.

Looks pretty convincing, but until equally affordable and convincing replica mansions in replica desirable neighbourhoods are invented it won't be kidding anyone.
Thats a very good point! I live in a reasonably good area but if the lad down the road, who had an MR2 360 replica, had this i would be as unconvinced as i was when i saw the 360, which was rather a good replica too!I'm sure some company would pay that for it and use it for marketing. Even though it's fake, it will be a huge magnet wherever it goes. Stick some .com stickers on it and you're on to a winner!

All a bit unfair and OTT really. This is supposed to be a place where we don't st on cars, it's a step far when staff are on it too. There are PH members who own and enjoy their Cougars, why go out of your way to alienate them?
i always thought the cougars were held in slightly higher regrard.and while not that fast, they were good looking cars.KM666 said:
maybe the owner cares about reliability and MPG and doesnt want to drive a 2 ton 1 trick pony, if in the wonderful world of perfect conditions vitual reality the bugatti treats corners like a jay leno tank car i somehow dont hold much hope for the veyron being a good steer. to me theres absolutly no differane between this and covering your BMW 318 in ///M badges, at least this guy tried something original. bang on a couple of 9" backboxes to the exhaust and it'll probably sound close enough too.
Maybe, but it will still be a Cougar. Although I agree with the principle that it is a bit stupid to make a BMW 318i look like a M3, at least the 318i will still be RWD and drive with relative polish. monthefish said:

The Cougar was a pretty decent car from what I remember of reviews at the time. Same Ford handling sweet spot as the Mk1 Focus and Puma?
Slightly OT, but anyone remember this great video?(The footage from 4:05 to 4:12 is quite spectactular)

Away you go then, let us know how you get on As others have said nobody will by this for anything north of one tenth of the asking price. The sooner the builder realises this was nothing more than a hobby that stopped him wasting money down the pub/bookies and he'll be lucky to break even the sooner he can move on.
Apart from the base car and not seeing the interior - ok and the price - it's not a bad effort.
probably would not have cost as much if he based it on somethibg else with either V8 and/or 4wd
I managed this 200 lookalike for less than £7k - 300bhp 4wd 1240kg and sva'd

There are some very good vintage replicas out there the Dax cobra being one example, but i dont quite understand why anyone would want to buy a lookalike of any car still in production with no chance of it ever getting near the performance levels of the real thing. I for my part would rather spend the cash on something original.
