Surely "i8" is "I ate"? The irony of that attached to something about sustainability and not using up resources. biggrin

From the look of that BM it ate something that didn't agree with it...

No and Apple where not the first to use the i.

So for all the millions that BMW spend to maintain their brand, all they could come up with was 'i8'. I would have expected more.

I wonder if BMW will link up with GMurray. Both are working on city solutions, both are using the 'i' prefix. Both worked with each other in the past.

Well BMW have been stckng the letter "" at the end of all ther model descrptons snce the 70s ( and t's been pretty pontless snce 1993 snce every car has been ftted wth fuel njecton) so for such a radcal departure they now stck t at the begnnng nstead.

Personally 'm fed up wth the letter so 'm gong on strke.

You are somewhat reticent about revealing what you drive, is this because you don't want to be labelled a tt just like you label other car owners of a particular marque?

So going down the electric recharge route rather than the hydrogen route. Pretend green route then BMW. Innovation can be left to others.... pretty though!

How is using electricity generated in a power-station to recharge your car less green than using hydrogen to power it? Hydrogen that takes huge amounts of energy to refine.

BMW have done hydrogen to death over the last 30 years. Its just nasty stuff to try and contain, it'll leak through pretty much anything. The whole electric car BS just relies on the power companies moving across to renewables or nuclear. So given that everyone hates windfarms and no one wants a nuke at the bottom of the garden, no ones keen to cough upfor tidal or wave and solar... well the less said the better. So when are all the lights going to go out...

Can you tell I'm an automotive engineer who used to work in the power industry.

I cant make my mind up either!!

I love wind farms and I'd be happy to have a nuclear plant near me.

But even on our power mix as it stands electric cars could work.

I like it. But I bet it doesn't look like that in production form.
