I was thinking 996 to 997 rather than 993 to 996 (unless the 997 replacement is air cooled) ;-)
You could well be right I guess the 996 is unloved because of those headlights and the engines reliability on the earlier ones, so presumably Porsche will not make the same mistake twice.
However, 2 things may make the 998 (??) less loved
1. Longer / wider which means more grip and room but less suited to our roads, perhaps.
2. Less analogue, more digital. Both the new Mc and 458 have been accused of this to some extent as electronics help out more and more.
We'll have to wait and see. A second hand one in 3 years time might be a good bet.

When I drove one a couple of weeks ago, I couldn't believe how good the steering and ride were so I ordered one which is scheduled to arrive from the factory at the end of March. It's one of the few cars I've driven recently which left a smile on my face. It kicks my old Gen 2 4S into a crooked hat. Of course there will depreciation, but that can't be avoided so why worry about it? If you can't afford to take a hit with a car you can't afford the car.

Like it, but seriously, does 2mm make a difference?
Eh? you mean 32mm? i think that would make a lot of difference to many things in life.Just intrigued as to how such a small amount helps, but then again I don't have an engineering/aerodynamics degree or a job at Porsche!

The GTS is also much better than my Gen 1 C2S but as depreciation is realised only at sale/part-ex time, my rudimentary cost/benefit analysis says that the GTS aint worth double the value of my car; which has just passed its first MOT, has new rear tyres, only 16K miles on the odo' and feels exactly the same as the day it was new. IMO affording the change and justifying it are two separate things, especially when it's bought with taxed income.Edited by whosgotazure111s on Monday 28th February 16:16

Don't get me wrong, it is beautiful thing indeed, but there are too many models, too many options and its image is still all wrong.Given the choice, cash in hand I would imagine pound for pound, 997 Vs GTR, there would be a difficult choice ahead for many.
