Top shed. Garlick should do them more often, Riggers has lost the plot recently.

I had a white one of these lent to me for 1/2 a day back in the mid 90's. V12, slow as hell and drank fuel like you would not believe. Guy was using it as a wedding car and my lasting impression was as any sort of driving machine it was crap.

Then it wasn't set up right or was v. tired. These things could shift, although because of the refinement they didn't give that impression.

Jags are wonderful, don't let it put you off, just don't compare them to modern stuff or expect them to outdrag Evo's !

My mate bought an early Aston DBS 6 without an engine for a grand then tried to put a V12 jag engine in it out of a car that was 'free to collector'
in about 1980

Cant imagine many 20 year old warehouse workers doing that now !

It is strange how the yellow Daimler is most associated with Arthur Daley - even the write up of this car says "OK, so Daley actually drove a Daimler, but you know what I mean". He had a fair few Jags as well - series 2, series 3 and several XJ40s too.

- Dare I say that its actually pretty good on fuel.

You'll easily get 25 to 27, more on a run.
WHAT ?

My Dad has had a few, more like 7 mpg and 12 on a run.

any way to fit a manual box to the V12?
My dad has one in his shed still attached to a V12.

He has a Daytona replica that is currently auto and is considering converting it.

Yes but they are rare and if I remember correctly couldn't take the torque from the V12 causing early failures.

I also remember my car had two 10 gallon tanks. How many cars today can you fill with petrol and add over 10% to their value (well for the next 300 miles at least)?

The getrag will handle providing the driver is not bent on smashing the gearbox, my conversion has done over 25k miles and is still sweet, no problems.

I bought a black XJ12 HE when i was 21 just out of uni.

I've since upgraded to a Double Six and briefly added a V12 XJS before some monkey wrote it off in the snow.

+1 for the pepperpot top wheels and IMHO the S3 has to be black with the chrome waistline.

Can't miss an opportunity to show off the Double Six biggrin.

Daimler V12 Waftability with some TVR Griffith straight through rear exhaust pipes to replace the standard silencers and a couple of Tuscan racer K+N air filters (which, incedently are Jag fitment anyway) to give the V12 it's singing voice smokin..

I once bought a "cheap" XJS V12 one night from a bloke down the pub because it was a little damp (actually I think it had been parked in a lake). It was a lovely drive though.
I remember taking a mate for a spin in it and in little over an hour later it had nearly emptied both tanks of fuel !

Would I have another one - hell yeah smile
