The Audi A3 has been one of my most favourite cars of all time, and this just made it that extra bit better! biggrin

Interesting, it sounds like a great car. I agree with the point that some people want a decent car which doesn't put them 'on edge' all the time. Driving a car that does that day to day, i know how i sometimes long for something a bit more relaxed but with the power there if i need it.

As for the price, i wonder how much of an impact the devaluation of Sterling has had. A couple of years ago, we were at €1.40 to the £. Now we're at €1.10 at best.

At £40,000 and £1 : €1.10 this would suggest a 'european' price of €44,000

if the exchange rate were at £1 : €1.40, this would produce a 'UK' price of £31,240

That's quite a difference if my maths are right. (possibly not)
The price in Germany is €49,900, so we are actually getting it cheaper in the UK.

Which options do you need exactly? The spec list is fairly long, including standard fit nav and leather.

Sorry for having an opinion. I forgot they're not allowed.
We've moved on from the opinion, we can see your opinions if like this are best ignored as they are childish and the debate's not even how big of a tool you are for that is obvious. The decision is how the hell do we add you to our ignore list when there isn't one. YOU are the reason, YOU and all the other idiots who post stupid, ill informed and silly posts on this forum, YOU are the reason so many people don't post here anymore. I bet your mum is proud she bought up someone who is able to sprout their opinions freely......just a shame you wasted the opportunity and let her down with such a clear demonstration of a cretin in action.
WOW! You came on just to post that pathetic rant of bile & hatred. You must think you're superior, but that comment has made you look rather sad. Being a member of a forum longer than another person, or making more posts, does NOT make your opinion better than theirs. In your own words "I bet your mum is proud she bought up someone who is able to sprout their opinions freely......just a shame you wasted the opportunity and let her down with such a clear demonstration of a cretin in action." Thanks for playing & goodnight.
The fact that your opinion is all Audi drivers are cocks is stupid, the fact you wish to uphold it kind of proves my point don't you think? Grow up, you post count means feck all, your content however....

Whats funny? Audi interiors are excellent, whether your in an A1 or A8.
This I would agree with - lovely places to be. Still not my cup of tea though.

And what's with all the childish bhing in this thread? Not like PH of old. Thought I was on the Digital Spy soap opera forum for a while...

Maybe you should get someone to read the comments out to you, reading clearly isn't your strong point......although being arrogant clearly is. At no point what so ever did i say ALL Audi drivers are cocks. So maybe you should grow up, & as you mention post content, well it seems all you do is bh at people. Seriously, get a life.

When did I tarr all new posters with the same brush? I said 9 times out of 10 when there is a stupid post it is a new member, I did not say all new members make stupid posts; there is a difference.
How odd, most of the snide comments i've seen on here are from old members that feel they have some kind of right to this site. I find it amusing how many keyboad warriors are on here.

Personally, I don't think you're exactly clothing yourself in glory here.
You come across as a rather belligerent person who appears to have something to prove. Are we to assume that we should come and have a go if we think we are hard enough? rolleyes

What a really nice looking, tidy little car. Shame Audi's are usually driven by ccensoredks.
I see a stupid post, look at the join date and just sigh shaking my head... always the new ones.

Haha, brilliant smile
Hmmm. I was going to reply to say that Audi's are over priced and over rated, but I still found myself buying one last year because they are great cars. Instead, I find myself wanting to comment on some stupid w@nker who has nothing more to add than a demonstration of stupidity. This used to be a great car web site.
To be fair, I do find that I get tailgated, cut up, etc. more by Audi drivers than any other. These days the brand does seem to attract the over assertive/aggressive who think they are "flash" and something a bit special, the BMW drivers of old.

This is an opinion arrived at through driving, not via Top Gear, sorry if it puts anyone out, all the best.
That's exactly my point of view too. It's a shame as this sort of image is unavoidable as their models get more popular...and by popular i mean there are 5 Audis sitting outside my office...the nearest Audi dealer is about 40 miles away too!
Could it not just be the fact that you have it in your sub-conciousness and thus notice the Audi "cock" drivers more?
It's like when you buy a car suddenly you notice more around..your sub-concious at work.
Or could it be the huge numbers of Audis that are actually on the motorways? I think it may well be. At the moment they sell very well, previous to Audi being the car choice of workers that travel many miles for work & business, in the past both BMW & Ford Mondeo drivers have had a similar reputation.
Exactly mate...a lot of fleet cars, salesreps etc....you generally find the more time someone spends on the road more less respect they have for other road users...Van drivers, taxi drivers,Couriers..just a fact of life....I doubt a brand of cars attracts a certain brand of bad driver....ar£3hole maybe

Why do people keep calling this a 45k car. Its not, it cost less then 39K + options. The car looking at the Audi website comes fully loaded. The only option you might want to spec as far as I can see are metallic paint, Bose speakers and fancy chairs. The fancy chairs are over 2 grand so that would put me off therefore my total bill would be less then 40k.
Yes it expensive but its a ltd run 350bhp hatch. The 350bhp will more likely put out closer to 400bhp if you've ever seen a TTRS.
Yes you can buy a 335i for less, yes you can buy a Insignia VXR and S4 for less but there going to be significantly slower. This thing will go like the clappers.

You make a good point here, at the moment it doesn't really have any competitors. Both the RS500 and Cosworth Impreza(which Subaru had the balls to ask 50k for)are both finished...the only real competitor I can think of his the Litchfields Impreza which is not going to interest any Audi onwers, we can tell from the set up of all recent RS cars, They will all be sold before the 1M hits the show rooms..so at the moment there is nothing like it out there.

wow, this thread seems to have got people properly riled (yes...me included!) I guess we can safely say that some people like a 40 grand 350bhp hatch made by Audi and some don't. At least its provoked a bit of debate (and a lot of slanging...) Me? I am not a huge fan of it, I think its perhaps a step too far but if you like it, thats cool too. I think I'd rather have a 2nd hand S3 or S4 avant and a heavily modified 964 for the weekend!

A poorly specced RS3 would be a liability when it came to resale. There are a few essential options that would push the price to £42K as a minimum, and for a desirable spec, I think you're looking at £45K

Eh? So you should spend an extra £6 odd thousand on top, to help resale value when you won't get that money back? And you're hardly going to have trouble selling on an RS model low spec or not...

RS4's without the tech pack do not sell well.

Whereas RS4's with Ceramics sell very quickly, provided of course they also have the tech pack.

Claimed 31 MPG? So about 23 to the gallon in the real world then. And only if you drive it carefully, mind...
In my family's experience of the the 4 rings Audi are actually usually quite good with their MPG figures, we can and have regularly exceeded them driving gently (although at the speed limit) in a few different models.
I get 26mpg out of my 2.0TFSI. I think Audi quote something like 34/35mpg, and when I'd calculated what mine was doing I asked a few questions on Audi forums. The general response seemed to be that 26-28mpg was about right.
Having said that, if I did a few less short trips I think the figures would be a little less painful.

I'm entirely at a loss how you come to that conclusion, but if you feel happy and validated by that then that's great for you.
