True. they are excellent.
But in comparison to a Bentley or Aston is just deluded. They are well built well but blanded than a bland man in blandsville. Similar to BMW blandness. Comparison to a bespoke interior is like comparing McDonalds to a Michelin starred restaurant. The Spruce goose said:

Bespoke interior when most of the functional parts of a Bentley interior are the same as an Audi's?I drove one when they were first launched in Ireland.
Great looking car, lovely interior.
Quick but did not feel that quick as I was expecting, too easily accessible maybe? Deceptive I guess.
It really turned heads, everybody on the road were rubber necking to have a look.
Only negative though, the ride is outrageous! Easily the harshest sprung car I have ever driven!
Lovely sounding car though

What a really nice looking, tidy little car. Shame Audi's are usually driven by cks.
Didn't realise I was a cock. What a stupid generalisation. It's like a new form of racism. How can you just generalise the nature and mentality of people when the only thing being in common is the brand of car they drive? I drove an Audi, it was 10 years old, 330hp, I was 26 years old, living with my girlfriend. I'd have thought my views on life and how I treat people may well be completely different to, say, a Londoner, 50 something, living with his family driving his A6 up and down the motorway. Maybe not. Who knows. What I do know is I'm kind hearted, very well mannered, placid, gentle and very appreciative. When driving I'm courteous, observant, safe and aware. I don't think I'd personally fall into the "cock" category, either in a driving sense, or in any other way.
I'm not particularly jumping on the defend Audi bandwagon, or preaching like a fanboy, just find it odd how someone can make such a sweeping generalisation. Or perhaps it's just down to Mr Clarkson.
RS3 looks nice, but for £40k, I'd buy something much nicer second hand! M3 CSL, Maserati Gransport, Ferrari 360 even?! Or maybe a 1M....
EDIT: oops, didn't realise this thread was so old!
The problem with all Golf based "quattro" Audis is Haldex AWD. It effective for a compromise AWD system but it's mechanically incapable of pushing more power to the rear wheels than the front. Result, understeer biased one-dimensional handling. It's why the TT-RS will never challenge the Cayman. And it's why the RS3 is effective but dull. M-B A45 is afflicted with the same problem.

The new Focus RS 500 or lightweight or what ever they will call it looks to be the car the haldex cars hope to be. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/ford/focus/96068/hott...Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
