RE: SOTW: Ford Granada 2.8i Ghia X
Discussion
I dont agree with everyone who is stating the price is way too high, you only need to take a glance at how much rwd Escorts have shot up in price in the last few years to appreciate there is a large amount of 'scene tax' which applies to old skool fords. Capris, cortinas (especially mk3 since life on mars) mkl fiestas all command seemingly high pices.
There arent many mk2 Grannies for sale at present, having had a quick nose on a few sites. Anything mechanical that might be wrong with the car will be easy to fix, and the parts for these are still commonplace.
Best of luck to the seller, and remember you can always negotiate down with a buyer, but not up !

3rd Party is the legal minimum required by law. Show me different!
Sorry, there seems to be some confusion here. Yes of course you can take 3rd party insurance on any vehicle as a minimum. What I was actually meaning is you can drive any other car if you are fully comp under your own insured car policy on a 3rd party basis only but the vehicle in question MUST have a valid insurance policy on it otherwise its illegal. Hope that's cleared that up now!!!3rd Party is the legal minimum required by law. Show me different!
My old man had two of these. A 2.8 and a 2.3. The 2.3 ended up being the faster car. We were chatting about them over a ruby just the other night. Happy memories jetting down to visit family in Weymouth back in the day was wonderful in those two cars.
Additionally, the amount of wine he used to get in the boot for the trip back from France was astounding.
I'd love one, but fear they might be a bit past the sell by date.
Sometimes SOTW evokes some wonderful memories.

Er, I believe it was part of the Sports pack, not the X pack. The "X" didn't have strong enough boot lid springs to lift the rubber spoiler.
There is no evidence on this car of it ever having had one fitted (no drill holes).
the rubber spolier wasn't that big and the boot lid stayed up no problem on our car. There is no evidence on this car of it ever having had one fitted (no drill holes).

Anyone who describes a car as 'she' in an advert is clearly a paisley sock wearing, leather elbow patched, St Bruno pipe smoking geek and Morgan wannabe owner.
This just screams money pit everywhere. How much to sort out all that's wrong? Diff, dipstick, electrical gremilins? No tax or MOT dented to buggery and he still wants a bucket of sand?
Trot on.

Sorry mate but don't really understand your comment here. A car which has no insurance on it cannot be legally be driven by someone who has a fully comp policy on ther own car (different car). This is the mistake a lot of people make when they think they are legally allowed to drive another car. If you got away with it then count yourself very very lucky.
There are no absolutes with insurance. If you have a DOC policy (and just being fully comp isn't enough, it has to be DOC) then you can drive other cars providing you follow their rules. If they say the other car must be insured then fair enough, but not all policies say that. There is one problem though: if the other car doesn't have its own policy then as soon as you get out it becomes uninsured again, so parking it on a public road would be taking a risk as it could legitimately be towed away.

Anyway, someone go and buy this shed and prove all the doubters wrong, including myself.
Love the Honesty of the seller, but still think that the asking price is far too much. No MOT for 4 years? just hope the brakes are not seized up if handbrake is left on as well. Unless who just did not bother getting an MOT and still drove it, would not be suprised. Think I would convert it into a Starcraft.
Great fun touring Europe in one of these!
