RE: SOTW: Ford Granada 2.8i Ghia X

Money pit schmoney pit, its a great shed!
My grandad had a white one he used to call the 'white missile' taking me and my brother on trips to Blackpool when we were little. On one of those trips i had my first can of coke on the way up the M61 and proceeded to vomit all over the rear seats! Oh those misty water coloured memories!
(wipes tear from eye, composes self)
I wouldn't buy it though.

You realise that this has to be driven around with Duran Duran playing from the stereo. And aim for every pile of empty boxes you can find.
I bought a non-inj 2.8 at uni for 150 quid and was looking into getting 'STU & SAN' on the top of the windscreen. Her cries that she would not get in the car if I did fell on deaf ears, it just happened I couldn't afford it at the time.Goodfella 555 said:
It was always going to be difficult following last weeks Jag... IIRC these 2.8 had surprisingly poor performance eg 0-60 in 11.5 top speed 115mph, and wasn't luxurious enough for this not to matter, not good shedding this week, must try harder(!)
that'd be the non injected, non 'X' you're talking about I think.Always wanted a Ghia X, but it would have to be an estate.
Great car though, and from a time when a high-end Ford was a genuine option to the wealthy luxury car buyer. The Granada Ghia X really did have a high level of class when new. What happened to that image?....Oh yes, the Scorpio.

Possibly, in fairness it was a long time ago, just checked and you are right it was 9.2 secs for the injection i stand corrected. Still only 80bhp per tonne though...Edited by Goodfella 555 on Friday 11th March 09:44

Yep, definitely more Professionals than Sweeney. Too new in the Grannie model generation, for a start.
A fair point, but a quick trip to IMCDB did confirm that DI Regan did get his hands on an early Mk2 in later series. Plus, I always associate the Professionals more with Escorts and Capris.Riggers said:

True, plus I always associate Mk1 Grannies with The Sweeney, too.Edited by The Donster on Friday 11th March 09:47

The central locking suffers the usual Granada problem of Just Plain Doesn't Work Properly. You can see all the solenoids trying, but they just can't work through the stiffness to actually operate the locks. A good seeing to will cure this.
Whilst I'm no mechanic, I'm not sure this will actually help the central locking; I'm sure there's an "enthusiast" out there willing to give it a good go though...Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
