Might be bucking the trend slightly but does this car really need 500 hp? I'm sure it will be fun but it is already ballistically quick on roads and has so much grip that you really can't enjoy it moving around on a public road as you are going too fast. I guess if you did want something quicker for the track you might as well get the cup car with even more grip etc. I just don't think that power is an issue for the current car. Just a thought - bet it will sound special though.

Anyone else find the news of Porsche releasing yet another variant of one of their cars just a teensy weensy little bit tedious? No reflection on the car, which will be brilliant, but constantly wheeling out special editions to window licking journos is getting a bit boring.

They ought to start adopting software style version numbering so you have an idea what you're buying - the Porsche 911 V4.21 build 2621.

You're right, 600bhp should be the minimum.

At these NA power figures all the turbo variants become pointless. What a machine this will be evil

Why? I'd rather have the turbo GT2 RS....even if it is only an extra 120bhp

Well I'd rather have a 500bhp NA engine with better response and sound.

Chacun a son gout Rodders wink

It would be a poor show if we all liked the same 'hot' version

I like the massive wall of torque and the hollow 'thunk' from the exhausts on gearchanges when the turbos are blowing hard

So true- I've never thought any of the turbo 911s have sounded that good (they do sound good in the scheme of things, but compared to a turbo I think a standard Carrera with PSE sounds better....and i cnt afford either! lol)

I wonder if Porsche could concentrate on making the car weigh less than 1000KG. Strip EVERYTHING out.

This is what I want them to do, but its unlikely. It would only need 300bhp to be a mega quick tool.

I do not think it will affect current GT3 prices if they only make 500,there will be so few RHD versions made that you will always pay a premium for one.
Your dealer will take a letter of intent and a deposit, but unless you won last Fridays euro lottery then I do not think you will be lucky enough to get a build slot.
But here's hoping.

The GT3 Cup weighs 1200kg, the RSR 1220kg, so lads I think you'll be dissapointed in waiting for a GT3 that weighs 1000kg. smile

But that's not to say that there isn't scope within the Porsche range for a <1000kg car.

Anyone heard anything more about this?

I thought the announcement was due on 7 April.
