The Kumho is a great tyre, apparently modeled on the corresponding Michelin which is probably why they feel like a Michelin. You need to try one before accusing them of being substandard. I've had far worse tyres in the past from Goodyear, Firestone, Conti and Michelin.

You even admit that "going just by brand isn’t a shore (!) fire way of getting a good tyre" - so how can you say Kumho's in this size and style are not a good tyre ?

As for not using a car in the winter, bunch of puffs smile
Hyundai probably model one of there cars on a BMW, its still a Hyundai and it's still not as good!

Can you say they are as good or even close to the standard fit Conti SportC3's?

Yes the Evo test is flawed just like the ADAC test which the Kumho didn’t do great in. I am sure the three tyres I had on my GTi would have performed quite closely in the ADAC test but subjectively they were worlds apart! The Dunlop's felt like driving with blocks of concrete attached to the wheels although the grip was fine. The Goodyear's felt like they were really working with the chassis setup with the rear working with the front to give a balanced feel and aiding turn in. the Michelin's always felt like the rears just didn’t do anything and understeer would set in quite early. So personally I prefer at least for me the subjective side of the EVO test apposed the measured test from ADAC .

Anyway the OP is thinking about selling the car so personally I think it would be a false economy to buy cheaper tyres and have potential buyers put off by it! I imagine there are many people like me.

If it was an eight year old Clio 172 then you could do a lot worse than Kumho but on a car that occasionally struggles containing 300bhp with its sticky oem tyres then I don’t think it’s a good move. If Kumho consistently start winning tyre tests then I have no problem fitting them but I’m not holding my breath frown

I'm sure your advice is good. However, it's nearly 3 years too late, I'm sure he's replaced them by now...
