Anyone think this was fair bearing in mind the road layout?
Theyve since put up no-entry signs
Seems fair.
A massive bking – but not the end of the world.
2 years off driving will have an effect on then, but in a few years time it'll be off the record.

They have put up no entry signs.
I disagree this is an acknowledgement of guilt from the road planners, more a realisation that some people are confused somewhat more easily than others and the no entry signs help limit this.

If it was that bad a junction it would happen more often.

If they've since put up no entry signs then I'd say that that a slight admission of guilt. I actually think that was a little harsh.
If there hadn't been a crash then she'd have been turned around and sent on her way. If someone had died she'd be going to jail.

I do think it's a bit odd that various outcomes of the same simple mistake can dramatically affect the sentence.

The reason it hadn't happened before is because it's usually one of the busiest junctions in Aberdeen.

What caught her out was the lack of any other traffic (other than her and the two lorries).

There was plenty of other signs and I still maintain that she got it badly wrong - the the new no entry signs definitely help.

The arrows on the road are still poor - and it wouldn't surprise me if there is another accident in the future - but further up the road.

I think the punishment just about fits the crime tbh !

Are you asking if she followed the right hand lane at 50 seconds ?

If so then yes !

I think the worry is that whilst you can see how someone could go some way through, if there was no traffic, to continue into oncoming traffic in such a way is pretty pathetic to be honest, and if I was the drivers insurer, I would be politely declining to insure them again come re-instatement of their licence.
You're going to have to trust me on this - the fact she managed to miss the first truck is a miracle - I reckon she'd have had about half a second to avoid it. She thought she was getting onto a dual carriageway - I reckon she would have been doing 40 and the truck probably doing 35. The corner has a big fk off rock in the way obscuring her vision. She couldn't avoid the truck to her right as there was a rock in the way - then you have the truck - her only choice was to swerve left - into the path of the other truck.

It really is a miracle nobody was killed !

Bear in mind all other exit slip roads around that stretch of the A90 do have NO ENTRY signs, then I think it was an oversignt, albeit a long time ago.

And another point guys, don't forget she was a new driver, and had already hit a beema apparantly, so to me doesn't seem the best of drivers on our roads, note also with such a tight bend she looked like going quite fast in my opinion.

I agree with you it isnt a bad junction, but road markings are poor, and a NO ENTRY sign just may have prevented it.

Talking about road markings in Aberdeen, visual this if you can, (locals will be with me on this), as you are driving up Wellington road south towards Altens, the road passes a prison on the left hand side, the road is a longish left hand sweeping bend.

The council made this stretch into 3 lanes, with 2 lanes going south, and one north. But the powers that be put the solid dividing white line to the right hand side of L1 as you head south, with the dotted line on the south bound lane.

This allowed you to use L2 when heading south, but driving along a sweeping left hand bend. I wrote to the council and told them I think the markings were incorrect, and the solid line should be on the inside of L1.

Anyway they wrote back and said to the effect "You may be right, we open the road, THEN carry out a safety check", honest thats what they said. About 6 months later they changed it.

See link, the bus lane wasnt a bus lane when they made it 3 lanes, where the white van is, you could overtake it into L2, approaching a left hand bend. When they opened the road, the two solid white lines next to the van, on the van side it was a dotted line, with the solid the other side of it.

Having seen the vid of the road layout, I've some sympathy with the lady.

The layout where she went wrong, looks just like the earlier 'north, south' split , and I'd probably have done a double take myself.

on sunday night there was someone coming down the wrong side of the a303, in the right hand lane in a 106, just after the podimore roundabout (I was heading west), at about the point where everyones got up to full speed. I can't see how she got there, as there's no awkward turnings. Some heavy braking, swerving and dubious application of full beams and I think she pulled onto the verge. God knows how she got out of there though - no room to turn around and no way off the road..
