The amount of responses to this article prove the ability and love for the 205 Gti, maybe nothing this side of a mini could have the same, and I cant imagine anyone ever feeling the same about modern hot hatches in 20years time.

My first car was a 1.6 GTi D '87 - still one of the best cars I have ever had including a lot of sports cars! The purity and simplicity of the car made it such a joy to drive. Looked amazing in Red and could be hussled a long any road with such delicacy.
if ever D240 UVO ever were to still exist and be for sale I might have to haver her back!! first love!

I bought one in October last year, I'd always wanted on as a kid and finally made the jump at the tender age of 33. Sure it's not the most reliable but parts are cheap and doesn't cost the earth to insure and tax.

Great car and I can't see myself ever selling it to be honest.

Great thread. Here's a couple of pics of mine. It's one of the 25 '1FM' models made in 1992. Used on dry days only!

awesome car that.

I still remember my 1.6 gti in black.

H193GLA, most fondly remembered out of all my cars, went everywhere in that and lots of fond memories.

More than you'd think - 19 of the original 25 1FMs still exist.

Your 205 looks great, and I am automatically bonded to it even watching it(knowing how well it drives). I like the way you painted the alloys, I could the same. Is it graphite inside, and on the outer edges silver?

I've just got my 1989 1.9 GTi back on the road after 12 years of it being hidden away in my dad's garage. I wish I'd done it sooner. It takes me back to my childhood!!I had a 1.6 when I was 18 & the memories just flood back. I run a 330ci sport as an everyday car and the Pug feels so much more alive & certainly quicker at low down revs.
I shall NEVER sell it. Here's to another 15 years ownership.

Ha ha. So the old girl is famous. Although, the reg number had been photoshopped!!

I purchased this car off of Johnny back in October. I paid nowhere near the price quoted in the article though.

All running good a few new bits were needed. Exhaust, metal water pipes and various other pipes.

Other than that it still flies and has me grinning from ear to ear.

Isn't it riding a bit low at the back?

Was at Santa Pod some time ago. Saw a Yellow 205GTi with a black bonnet... Rather quick it did an 11.2 @ 132mph!!
He was up against a White 205 which did a low 13's.

I believe the White one was a very good MI16 conversion and weight reduction
The yellow one with a black bonnet had forced induction and the word on the stand was the car was pushing 500 bhp ....

Yes it is. Had the rear beam looked at when I had new shocks fitted (another job that had to be done). They said the beam was fine it had just been lowered. I will get it back up one day!

Set of stock springs shouldn't be too hard to come by. If you check out the wheeler dealers episode of the 205 gti there's had the same problem if i remember correctly.
