Some interesting models there, they seemed especially keen to develop an estate in the early 80's. I wonder if it would be possible to make the concepts at the end road legal?
Simply depends how it was constructed... I remember talking a while ago about a Jensen CV8 concept car, and making it road legal. While it moved onto the stand under its own power, it would not have been possible without a complete rebuild due to lack of chassis, frame, everything! Underneath it was just a box.

Ta muchly.

Right, I'll have the 9-2X for sts and giggles, the 97 Sonnet for beauty, the 900EV as it's always been a fave, the 9-3 Viggen in Lightning Blue (Saab's best ever kept secret), the 9-3 TurboX, the 9X (finished please, with the original 2.8TT engine) and the 9-X (with the 3.2TT please), oh and that 9000 pickup, because it's hilarious.

That'll do for starters!

Announced today that the skeleton staff that have been keeping the lights on in the factory will not be needed from Thursday. Reports are circulating that the landlords are very keen to see the factory cleared asap which suggests that may well have found a buyer for the buildings themselves
With that and the news about the museum being sold off things seem to be moving very quickly now. The chances that one big buyer will come in to re-start the whole thing seem to be disappearing rapidly.

Press Conference by the recievers at the factory on Saturday, watch this space.

Also Muller has now seemed to have sided himself the Turkish company Brightwell Holdings, releasing what almost amount to joint press releases.

Victor Muller said:
I believe Brightwell has sufficient funding to cope with this deal” says Victor Muller to TTELA
So that will be just like Vladamir Antonov, then Victor?...& HawTai.... & Youngman.... & PangDa......& North Street Capital.....& The Endeavour Advisory Group.....and that un-named Chinese bank.....& that un-named European high street bank?

If I was Brightwell I wouldn't want Mr Muller's personal reference to be honest.

Youngman are apparently flying into Trollhatten to sort out a new deal that will require much more money but will not require the Phoenix platform so GM can finally stop trying to kill off the damn brand furious as their platform and tech isn't needed anymore. Could this be the long shot that might just save SAAB?

Don't think so.

Youngman have now rooted round down the back of the sofa and have suddenly found 5 billion SEK!!!yikes
Well thats according to the gorgeous pouting Ms Rachel Pang. Now remembering that they were offered the whole damn company by Muller in November for 100 million euros and that included both the NG 9-5 & the 9-4X which are now both off the table, why would they put forward a bid of 500 million euros for basically a production line for a 12 year old car that no one in Europe or the US wants to buy and a parts business? But I'm sure Muller is delighted to hear after stringing him along for nearly six months, that they suddenly have found all this cash.
My thoughts? They are going to try and do the same to recievers as they did to Muller. Make a huge offer then delay firming it up on it for so long that they then get whats left of the company for a third of the price as the recievers have got so far down the road with them they have nowhere else to go. And remember, they are already so convinced that they own the PhoeniX platform that they have set up a company in Stockholm to help turn it into a Youngman product.
However as has been proved with the undue haste with which the museum was flogged off, I think that any offer like the one from Youngman will have to be paid in full very, very quickly indeed as I get the impression the recievers want this over with as quickly as possible.

Plus will GM approve the deal?

Plus will SAAB AB let them keep the brand name? With the crushing of the cars and the selling off on the museum, I think that it points to them wanting to take the name back.

Not home and dry, not even home and towelling themselves off.

Hi Toad,

Youngman dont think they need GM approval hence their position on this.

However I agree its a stalling tactic to get the scraps off the table even cheaper.

2 year contracts with who though? A 2 year contract isn't worth anything if the company it's with disappears.

Confirmed today.

Whoever buys Saab will NOT get the new 9-5 or the 9-4X. GM will not let the IP of either of these two cars go to anyone says General Motors spokesman James Cain.
So if you have a new 9-5 you have a collectors car. slade will be pleased.

So as I mentioned yesterday the whole company is now the production line for the 12 year old 9-3 that no ones been buying anyway.

So how do Youngman now value that at 5 billion SEK???

Oh and nice to meet you Dr Banjo.

The Recievers press conference was today, no huge revelations

They said that they were sorry about having to sell the museum but that Saab was like "a patient that just keeps bleeding" and they had no duty to keep the culture & history of the company, they just needed to produce funding. They also confirmed (as we have logged throughout this thread.) that there is very little left of any financial worth that has not already been mortgaged or otherwise promised to someone. They have confirmed that there are a number of suitors but the latest announcement by GM with regard to IP & the withdraw of the 9-5 & 9-4x has delayed the process.

They also refused to comment on Youngmans claim to ownership of the PhoeniX platform.

It does seem that they're not necessarily being terribly creative. It might be worth their while asking the potential birders whether any of them would want the museum to be maintained and, if so, asking said party to lend to the bankrupt estate the anticipated proceeds of the museum sale, subject to that loan becoming a purchase if the bidder is successful. That would be the sort of thing I'd have expected from Victor, at least.

Whilst you are strictly correct about their statement, I'd take issue with your slant on it; they in fact said that they wouldn't comment on any individual birders in response to a question about YM, which is not quite the same thing smile

They clearly don't quite get the fact that after already selling off the few remaining things that GM will allow them to sell........ about the only thing left of Saab, for any prospective new owner (if any really existed) to try and ressurect, was it's culture and history...... banghead

The passing of Saab has really had no effect on me until just looking through the PDF of the museum sale. What a tragic end to an adventurous tale...

The recievers have stated that as yet there is no confirmed bid for the remains of Saab/SWAN.

It has also been reported that the staff of Saab/SWAN have been bringing in their own toilet paper since April. I think once all of this over (finally) there will be some very interesting stories to come from ex-board members & workers.

No idea of the original source, but the motorvationsaab blog is saying that the museum has been sold complete to Saab AB and the city of Trolhatten, who will also pick up the running costs.

At least it's some good news.
