You could always get a standard GT2 RS which is faster than this new GT3?

Playing devil's advocate - if you are that serious about track work why not buy a cup car?
thats what I'd do, why compromise track performance by having the car road legal, just a waste really.

Interesting they went for manual, not PDK. 500hp, but compromise it by making you drive one handed.

Wonder if the PDK has limits on the power that can go through it ?
PDK adds weight over a 6sp manual, which detracts from the ethos of the 'RS' badge.

"Extensive weight-saving tactics have also been employed... Mind you, despite those lighter carpets, that's only a saving of 10kg over the GT3 RS."

10kg = extensive indeed.

I think it's time for a new Top Gear series where Tiff drives the GT3 RS 3.8 and Clarkson drives the GT3 RS 4.0, they both race around the track to see who is fastest, then before announcing the winner Clarkson sets fire to the lap times.

I think the 4.0 will be a decent used car buy in 2/3 years time - well it's not like there's many options to choose from is there?

PASM- Porsche active suspension management, be better if they had added 'Special' to the beginning of that title.... Seriously hot car mind.

The engine is fine, but the rest of the car is pretty much the same as a 997.2 GT3RS.

I was hoping for something like this...

Oh, and I read the PDK doesn't work with the Mezger for some reason and would require a redesign.

I don't think Porsche hate Nissan at all. Do you think there might be some GTR Owners that possibly hate Nissan? I have heard of some scarily expensive gearbox stories attached to driving a GTR for extended periods on track. How does that saying go? "Buy cheap, buy twice"?

No one cares.

Anyway, great to see that they've not sullied this car with PDK. At least someone's still turning out cars with a proper manual gearbox.

Have you ever driven a car with a double-clutch box?

Certainly the most appealing mini-supercar on the market at the moment. driving

Not a pretty thing, though. I don't think I'll ever come to like the 911's ginormous overhangs.

I'm sure we all would have loved to see bolt on arches etc, but then Porsche would have had to spend another €100k getting redesigned side indicators type approved. For such a short production run, it wouldn't have been worth their while.

Edit: I want one!

These are called 'diveplanes' by most motorsport people AFAIK.

Wow, what a car. And the price seems very reasonable too.

Yes, a 997 Carrera with PDK and a couple of VWs.

They are good for what they are, but in my opinion this sort of car works better with a manual and is more in keeping with the RS ethos.

I prefer manuals anyway unless I'm doing mile upon mile in traffic, which thankfully I don't have to.

Each to their own though. At least Porsche still give you a manual option for their top-end cars.

Race cars are designed to be fast at all cost, and that doesn't always translate into an enjoyable car to have fun driving

I'd be surprised if the next RS has a manual option.
