Awesome pic...

I miss Le Mans, I have only been to 2 classics and about 5 normals but everytime its been awesome. I ended on a high so probably best to leave it at that but would still love to go again...

Ive been to Lemans a few times and watched these roar past...VetterheadRacer - how much power do the GT Pro category cars make now?
Good question, this year the Corvettes are running a GM 5.5L V8 which is producing less BHP than last years 6.0L (470BHP) and a lot lot less than the 7.0L (590BHP) produced by Katech. Since GM took back the production of the powerplants there have also been a lot more engine related failures.

I don't know the rating for the 5.5L but I'd guess at about 440BHP. One of the big changes for 2011 is the weight of the car, the 2010 weighed 2745lbs which was 165lbs more than the GT1 cars. I know that Corvette Racing worked hard over the winter to re-design the cars to try and get back below the 2700lb mark. Torque for the old GT1 cars was up around 640lbs/ft whereas the 6.0L was "only" producing 535lbs/ft.

I do not care what people say about the vette, the sound and its brutality makes the Ferrari's and Porsche's look and sound so girly out on the track.

This is not about who's best, how much it costs, just simply about how fking manly it is. It is a complete beast of a car and I really love my high revving V8's so it's not a bias opinion.

havent been to lemans for a couple of years, but always used to go & get camped next to the track @ karting nord & if i got any sleep @ all, when I woke used to know if both vettes were still pounding around within a few minutes of wakeing up.
Best noise in the world honest, never got tidy of seeing them everylap (combined with too much beer)

It's hard to type while having an eargasm to the sound of a vette' at full chat.
I remember in 2007... I couldn't decide whether the DBRS9's howling V12 or the growling Vette V8 was better... amazing sound.

It was my first time at Le Mans last year. We arrived at our camp site at Mulsanne when it was almost pitch black on the thursday evening, night time practice had already started....all I can say is nothing can prepare you for the sound of two 'vettes in tandem at full throttle coming out of the corner at the end of the Mulsanne straight. It's not a howl, its a growl, and an angry one at that!! The ground was literally shaking!! smile

Yup! Pure rolling thunder!

In 6 weeks time I'll have the hotel window open and fall asleep to the sound of them running through the night.... smile
