Just stick the 3.8 in it and have done with it!

I don't think they look particularly good in black. There's a black Cayman parked a few metres away from me, and compared to my Dad's meteor grey S it looks decidedly dull.

Is this the first Cayman to officially enter 911 territory, i.e. sub 5 second 0-60?

I still don't understand why Porsche keep making these tiny changes and calling it a special edition??

If they're going to do a limited run special, in my books it needs to have something properly special about it. Like 100 more horsepower, a 10k rev limit or KERs or something.. 10bhp?! what's the bloody point?!
Go buy yourself a business studies text book smile

Cannot see black cars anymore. It is so common...

Isn' t there any more fantasy then this. There are millions of colours and all everybody comes up with are bloody black cars.

Awful.

Agreed.

Manufacturers should offer some wacky vinyl covered colour options & designs with dull/safe silver paint underneath. At least then buyers decisions wouldn't be dominated by resale values.

Kinda hard to get excited about a 3% power increase and some black paint. Sure Porsche-files will love it though.

This is the Cayman R that most people will spec laugh
I'm surprised more people didn't latch on to this. The R is for a few magazines and chisel jawed types who want to drive a daily car without the luxuries. Porsche know that most prospective £50K customers want the toys.

If you’re 'actually' in the market to buy a Cayman S, this is a great buy, you get a few extras thrown in and it has a few more BHP. The costs of the extra’s make it worth having over the standard.

If you’re expecting a 400 BHP car for an extra £3k then you'll be disappointed

No brainer if you were going to buy one anyway.

Jesus christ, like there aren't enough special editions of cars already using the word 'Black' in it somewhere. Why not a White edition or something?

Not me - didn't even put air-con in my Cayman R smile

You're not far wrong though. I know several Cayman R buyers that have specced sports seats instead of the buckets, added sat-nav, air-con, Bose etc.

Doesn't surprise me that they've put the tuned up 3.4 in this, since they did the same with the Boxster Black - well the 320bhp Cayman S/Spyder tune. What it doesn't have is the custom chassis setup that the R and Spyder have though.

I never get that - Presumably second hand buyers have similar taste to new car buyers and want boring grey and silver cars.

I've never had either myself (although I do have a black one at the moment smile ).

This seems like lots of lesser 'special editions' - a cheaper car with loads of expensive extras for less than buying the cheaper car and the options...?

What's NOT to get here? (Except why they named it after a Merc...)

Too much money for what you get. On the other hand as it will likely be faster for most drivers than a 911 and much cheaper it looks like a bit of a bargain.

This makes no sense at all biggrin

Love it when people with grey Porsches label black ones as dull!
