The 'black edition' may not offer great value for money but this thread got me thinking- and looking

Ninety five percent of the driving experience at less than fifty percent of the cost. These are looking cheap to me.
Absolutely. I paid £15k for my 987 1 year ago, same chassis and grip, a bit less straight line perf of course but I still have my licence. Less running cost. My total monthly budget is £300 inc. depreciation, petrol, insurance, tax, servicing/brakes/tyres, tax, etc etc. Unbeatable value IMO.http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2781177.htm

And yes, one can compare SH to new, they are both cars.

I thought these sort of comments had been consigned to the past now that many more people had actually spent time in a Cayman/Boxster and realised that it is an outstanding car in its own right.
No no no, dont you realise everything clarkson says is the truth?, and heaven forbid someone admits to buying something on finance here, or liking a personal plate etc etc etc.(the reality is let them all think that, should keep the prices reasonable for those of us that know the truth )

I still don't understand why Porsche keep making these tiny changes and calling it a special edition??
If they're going to do a limited run special, in my books it needs to have something properly special about it. Like 100 more horsepower, a 10k rev limit or KERs or something.. 10bhp?! what's the bloody point?!
Very true. But it seems to be fashionable among carmakers nowadays. For example (again, it's Porsche)the 911 "918 Spyder Edition". oh well If they're going to do a limited run special, in my books it needs to have something properly special about it. LOL. Coming from a hairdresser (based on your website) who relies on 4wd to get the power down and has probably never driven a light mid-engine car on the limit... the irony. Thanks for the laugh though !!!
Funny when people resort to personal attacks, and the funny facts they imagine and make up. Im giving my opinion on the car only, why resort to judging me?look up the word irony BTW

looks absolutely stunning, but 50k + options is quite a lot of money!
And yet all will get sold, so it's the right amount of money.. Clever Porsche releases yet another version .nickfrog said:

common knowledge really.
P.S. having 4WD is nothing to sneer at. Even Lambos do it, and they can still be good fun, just more control that's all, some people will even make it a CONDITION for the car they purchase.
Plus, when it's tips it down with rain and floods the main roads or the snow hits in winter (which it will do again, still don't understand why us british are so shocked when it does) and everyone else can't get out of there driveway and miss a day and docked for pay, you'll be high and dry.

4wd on summer tyres in the snow/ice won't help much though. Winter tyres on a RWD will work much better, particularly if it's mid-engine. 4wd only works when you're on the throttle so yes it helps traction a bit (providing the tyres can cope in the first place) but reduce braking distance or add lateral grip.Interesting that this Cayman S Black is limited to 500 examples worldwide and would love to see a post on here from someone who has tried to order one but has been told no!
I would bet money that there will be at least one more run-out model before they are finished with the 987 platform..
