Just bought a beautiful Carbon Black V12 Vantage. Just beautiful. A bit too quiet with Fuse 22 in, so I pulled it and no difference. Is this possible? Im thinking it might be to do with the Sports Button. Is it?

Any V12V owners out there that can help me?

Thanks

You can pull it and the valves will remain open. If you pull it, the sport button will only adjust the throttle map.

Its not Fuse22 though on the later models IIRC. Can't remember which one it is though - hopefully someone will come along and jog my memory - even checked the FAQ's for you but its not listed there.

Fuse 15 I believe on a V12V, but I had the dealer remove the vacuum hose.

Oh and congratulations & welcome to the club. Can I be the first to ask for the obligatory photo's, after all it is the law.

I pulled it a while ago based on some info in another thread. From memory I think it's fuse 15.

It's extremely loud without the fuse by the way biggrin

As posted above its no louder with the fuse out than it is with the sport button pressed. Pulling the fuse simply means you dont have to press the button and therefore dont have to have the remapped throttle feature which fools you into going faster by giving you a heavy right foot.

As for the fuse it depends on the age of your V12V. Mine is a mid 2010 model car and it is Fuse 22. Suggest you check page 10.29 of your owners manual. Mine states:

Boot Fuses : F22 - 20A Exhaust bypass valve and vacuum pump

Note that it is fuse 22 in the boot not the cabin or engine bay fuse boxes - be aware there are 3 fuse boxes so there is more than one dynamic here in terms of locating the right fuse for the age of your car.

Removing the fuse does not give exactly the same exhaust behaviour as the sport button. The sport button lowers the rev limit at which the valve opens, removing the fuse leaves it permanently open regardless of engine speed.

Consequently with the fuse pulled the exhaust is louder up to about 3k revs and when cruising at motorway speeds than it is with the sport button pressed. You may find the drone a bit intrusive on the motorway!

Removing the rear parcel shelf (which folds nicely into the boot floor shape) also increases the exhaust volume inside the cabin.

ps. could you post up/email me your last 3 vin numbers to see if I have your car on my Register?

Cheers - Phil

Instead of removing the fuse (22 or 15, depending on MY), you could also consider using a OEM-look button on the steering column, so you can open/close the valves when desired! Since I have it, I use it many times (closed when driving on highway or at night in the city, and open when in a tunnel! :-))

Thanks all. It is indeed Fuse 15 (5a fuse) which deactivates the bypass. The car is much louder all the way through the first half of the rev range (very different to sports mode)

I've bought the remote bypass switch from paralight.

Pics soon...

Thanks for the quick response. Did your dealer install( Approx cost?),or was it DIY.Where can you purchase the switch?

Looks very neat.

Cheers.

I had my Fuse 22 out for a bit. Decided it was too loud when just puttering along, so it went back in. I guess the next option for me is a switch of some sort.

The paralight remote control costs 99 pounds and takes around 30 seconds to fit. Just replace the fuse (no.15 in my V12V) with the small unit supplied, Stick the remote in the ashtray and there you have it. www.fuse22.net
