Somewhat confusingly the press shots show one with the Sportshift II 'box, which is an option:



But this does look rather tasty! Coupe or Roadster. Oh wait...

Nope. That's about it.

What isn't clear, is whether in the UK they'll be offering the Vantage S with a manual, and its only in Europe that it gets this 'SP10' moniker.

The manual transmission is not the only exclusive thing about this car. Standard equipment includes visual and functional motorsport specific splitter and carbon rear diffuser.

Black seems to be the key color for the interior too, but with silver stitching for a sharp contrast. Both versions will get a "piano black" center console and a leather trimmed instrument panel.

The base price for the Aston Martin Vantage SP10 is $129,239 (96,635 euros + VAT).

you can now order a vantage S in the uk with a manual box. ceramic grey is a (pricey) option. the wheels are the option wheel on the S. nothing else is new (lightweight seats may be standard on SP10, unclear from the article)

so this car has 6bhp extra and some cosmetic stuff normally a cost option is now free. Desperate............

Actually, perverse though it may sound, I kind of think this is better now I realise it ahs the same power

there is a big difference to me between models they try to make out are 'special' when they are not, and purely cosmetic bits & pieces being thrown in as a sort of 'lux/sports/cosmetic' pack - doing it is fine, even if the marketing may be somewhat OTT - this is not a new model, it's just an options pack effectively. Nowt wrong with that although patently it's not the least bit exciting

My guess is you will see a few parts bin specials and then a new Vantage following on very quickly!

You are totally right. The present V8 Vantage is a fabulous design, and sometimes these things change for the sake of change, and because they have to be seen to change, rather than because it is better. Think how many people have made a pigs ear out of designing a compact front engined sports coupe. BMW, with their breadvan Z3 and fugly Z4, Honda, and even Jaguar are being very careful to launch the convertible F-Type first, and I suspect that is because however sharp a car it may be the coupe looks are going to be a bit suspect. The Aston is perfect. I believe that anyone who can buy one of the current range, and doesn't, will come to regret it.

I also fail to see what all the naysayers and misery pedlars are on about. It's a V8VS with a manual box. What's not to like? Remember Porsche's launch of the Cayman. And now...Ladies and Gentlemen...for the first time in human history...da de daah...it's a Boxster with a roof! And they had the gall to charge extra for it.

I agree completely, and my keeper is from the Model Year period 2009 to 2011, prior to the 'aerodynamic' additions (only personal preference).

Having said that, I do realise that even the most beautiful cars become less popular with new buyers, as the model becomes older. We have seen how Vantage sales have fallen, since the first couple of years. It must be this pressure, which forces constant change upon car manufacturers.

When the Vantage was launched, there were 'how can you top that comments'.
I would not want to be responsible for designing the Vantage replacement. To create a successful Mk2 (not a spruced-up original) must be extremely difficult.

I think a problem is that these special packages offer a pre-selected set of options and colors that Aston will not let you deviate from. It would prolly just be better to offer a manual option on the S than to just be able to get as part of a package.
