I need to do 3 cars headlights in various states, one lightly hazed, one more so and the other quite allot.
I have seen threads online about great kits that are reasonably priced but this was all on USA forums...

Looking on amazon, halfords there are things like Turtle wax kits but they are expensive as it only ha 1 sealant wipe per kit so you need to many kits.

Anyone found some decent value kits on sale in UK?

Can't vouch for the kit but these do one.

Not sure why you wouldn't just wetsand them?

I did this with mine (started with 2500 grit, then 3000 before moving on to a medium then light cutting compound)

They look spot on now. I imagine these kits comprise of similar stuff?

Did you use a drill?
What brand of cutting compound?

These kits pretty much do just that but take the guess work out of what to use (and charge allot for the privelidge!).
Some offer a sealer that seals the finish and blocks uv but I think I have found a sealer I can buy separately.

I used a 3m kit from eBay. Was really good but I ran out of paper. Great results though.

No drill used, I'd be worried about wrecking the plastic. I used Meguairs wet & dry by hand with a spray bottle full of water until the light looked hazy but smooth all round if that makes sense. I then used Menzerna 2500 & 4000 polishes on a Lake Country CCS orange pad until they looked clear and shiney again. This part can easily be done by hand, but I was just feeling lazy smile Went over after with some Autoglym SRP but didn't make a great deal of difference.

Similarly, if you're buying the stuff in, I'd maybe say some of the above steps were unnecessary. I think you'd be just fine with 3000 grit paper before moving on to something like Meguiars Ultimate compound by hand to finish. It'll take a little extra elbow grease, but you should be able to do it all for £12 or so (not sure what these kits cost?).

Halfords are doing a Meguiars kit for, if I remember correctly, £20. I did my very weathered Renault headlights this week and they came up like new. It comes with everything you need except a drill.

Both the Autoglym and Meguiars kits are excellent - also available on the high st. which is an added bonus.

cheers

I initially tried the 1 Step Meguiars kit on my E Class headlights. It helped a bit as it's contains a drill bit attachment and polish but wasn't quite as good as I'd wanted. That involved wet sanding and then polishing up.

I picked up the 2 Step Kit which involves using a cleaner and then spraying with lacquer and I was far more pleased with those results. Headlights have stayed looking a lot better.

Before...

After.

Not 100% perfect but I'd say 90% there.

Hope that helps. smile

Would that do both headlights or just one?

I bought an AG one a year or so ago to do my Clio lights, transformed them in a short time, I never used a protective coating on them so they'll need doing again at some point.

Another vote for the Meguiars kit (including 4 grades of sandpaper), worked really well on cloudy headlights on my 14 year old 911. Came up good as new
