Serious question. What are the downsides of buying one of these cars apart from the obvious which is shifting it on would be tricky. Seems to me that some of these could be a bargain *IF* they have been fixed to a high standard.

Anyone have any knowledge of a white 997.1 GT3, registration CN56 POH?

I have no reason to suspect there's a problem with this car but always worth an ask.

As outlined on the first page the thread is here to highlight cars which have had accident damage, ensuring potential buyers are aware, allowing them to make an informed decision on whether they're happy to buy a car with 'history' and taking it all into account when deciding on what to pay.

There are plenty of great cars which have been repaired! smile

If I recall correctly, this was the first engine to explode and he lost it on his own oil?
Regards the silver 991 GT3 in the early wrecked file. I believe this is incorrect. The car and the engine are for sale on ebay by the german wrecker, along with all other parts of the car. There was no engine related issue with this car. Just cold MPSC2 on wet roads with a little bit of acceleration involved and a big dollop of bad luck I think you will find.

That's interesting, as IIRC the owner claimed something very different at the time and there were rumours about Porsche buying his car back off him, which appeared to be a sign that they might be at fault for the accident and we're trying to avoid bad publicity about a design fault on the engine...

Another 996.2 GT3 on EBay. 996 GT3 Reg LX53NRN has been subject to a repair and insurance payout.

Car was damaged at the Nurburgring due to a crash in the Summer 2016, a complete Insurance Payout has been made on the car following this significant event.

2004 Porsche 911 GT3
Registration LX53NRN

Should be priced as having accident repair following such an incident.

Incredible. LS did show me footage of the crash, but I didn't see how bad, or not, damage was, but whatever, it's a fact that needs mentioning!

Perhaps Redline Autos I Edgeware are not aware that their 996 GT3 (LX53NRN) has crash history.

Shouldn't imagine Redline in Yorkshire who do a lot of 911s will be too happy with the name of this dealer.

These are the pics of it from the Copart ad. It wasn't a trivial incident! Although there's no pic of it, the NSF took the brunt of the initial impact & definitely needed a new wing at a minimum.

I guess if the chassis checks out straight then possibly it might not be bad, but it'd be really wrong to let anyone buy it without prior knowledge of the repair.

Noticed this 991.1 Red GT3 RHD Clubsport (Cage and Fire Extingusher) on Copart just now.

https://www.copart.co.uk/lot/38518667

Looks a bit like a spin of a track, perhaps one in Western Germany?

An expensive repair by the looks although not that badly damaged: Both bumpers, Wing, Rear 1/4 and Rear Deck.

Great car at the right money as a track 991 GT3........

Wow, all of that damage and no airbags deployed?!
At least it has a cat d status against it to stop it being repaired and sold off as a 'lovely 1 owner car'!!
