Roof rack for 991
Discussion
I don't know for the 991, but for 996/997 the only option was the Porsche item, no Thule etc alternatives. It's not that bad to mount, but there are some extra steps such as installing the 4x little metal bases to which the bars then mount. 15 minutes is roughly how long it takes (maybe a bit more first time)

The 991 is completely different to the 996/7 I believe; I don't think the mounting points are easily accessible (or even built in) unles the RTS is ordered as part of the build (I may be wrong though).Off at a tangent, but I'm pretty sure the 996/7 roof transport system is made by Thule, with some small Porsche branding on; but they are not allowed to sell their own version. The 996/7 system fits both cars.
Quick update.
Porsche's own system is the only roof rack I could find for the 991, so I bought one. Interestingly it was a similar price to a Thule rack that my friend has on his car (non-Porsche).
The rack is easily fitted by two people. You could do it yourself, but it takes a lot longer. The system is modular; both bike racks and ski boxes are available.
I carry three bikes on my roof.
