Porsche put those on there for people who buy them for the purpose of showing them off to their mates so that they can look distinctive in the car park. Thankfully some people just want to drive them without being the centre of attention. wink
I agree. No way you are going to be the centre of attention in a shiny black 911 with no decals at all and a massive wing on the back that sounds like the local volcano just erupted when you pull away from the lights. Same car with decals and you'll be fighting them off.

I understand the blue 4 has sold. Looking forward to the new owner making themselves known and some more pictures. Stunning car.

No doubt current owners are thrilled as this has now set a new Rhd price benchmark.

Surely the black LHD one will soon be sold...

Not sure how that can be deduced without knowing what the car actually sold for. ..

Isn't that the case with the vast majority of cars? Most of us never know what they sell for. It's the upward trend of asking prices that is telling absent any sales information.

The Mexico blue is a stunning car! However one might mix it up with a std gt3 3.8 with an RS spoiler fitted. IMVHO, every 4.0rs should have the decals left on. It makes up the whole look and image of the 4.0 ltd edition version! Imagine having a 993gt2 but removing its flared wheel arches!
+1. Mexico one looks lovely but would be better with decals IMHO

Indeed it is. This one was waaay over "normal" so i would hesitate to use it as any sort of benchmark. The owner could have trousered 250 and been very happy and no one would be any the wiser. Dealer and owner has nothing to lose by trying it on. It could be parked back in the current owners garage waiting until next time for all we know, nothing ventured nothing gained.

OPC Leicester have put a LHD one up for 315k.
At a slightly more realistic 289k now. Can't see why anyone would not take the JZM lhd car instead though.

seems people are suggesting that there could be a huge/material difference in the asking and selling price on a car like this. Why? Maybe a few grand / small % but why would anyone in there right mind take a low bid or a car like this unless they absolutely had to sell it. Just wait for that one person to turn up and if they dont either drop the price back a little or take it off the market. The could be some dodgey stuff going on but would JZM really want to be risking their hard earned rep on that sort of thing. I doubt it. A lot of risk for short term gain in a long term business.

A lot of people with chips on their shoulders on these threads.
Cars get advertised, cars get sold...there is nothing new in that.

Overall volume of sales probably about the same as always - i.e. roughly <8 open sales per year per 996 platform GT3 car (mk1, mk2, RS)
...I can't comment on all 997s though 997 RSs look about the same volume as always

The prices are higher...but so is every other asset plus the interest in manual cars.
For every house being sold at 20% per year higher...someone has pocketed a lot of loose change

I am suggesting that could be a possibility. What i am actually trying to articulate is that no one on this thread has any idea what this car sold for or even if it did sell. My point is that its total speculation so if you now think that the realistic price for such a car is 350k then the hype of the marketing has worked hasn't it. Therefore, if you buy at this kind of price its a pretty large risk...if someone can afford it by all means go ahead.

There's no chips on shoulders, we are in a virtual pub having a virtual pint chewing the fat over a quite ludicrous market, thats all..

I've bought it and I can assure you as an existing 4.0 owner he didn't give it away - there aren't any deals on cars like that. For those suggesting that JZM are playing games, you're just plain wrong. They don't need to. People are waking up to Porsches as not only fantastic drivers cars but also 'sensible places' to park money.

That car is genuinely a one off. I can't believe, in this market, that it sat there. Anyway I couldn't have an idiot buy it and store it so it's now going in the garage and will keep the other one company. I'll use both. I don't know what the market will do and don't really care. Even if it halves it won't stay down there for long. I suspect it might go up.....its one of the best cars I've ever driven. Many less rewarding and less capable cars are fetching far more than 350 so it makes sense to me. Worst case is I now have an RS 8.0!

Oh and the decals will be going on it.

Congratulations! Please take a few snaps of it before the decals go on, I like the decal-less look.

Keep it decal free for a while - as it came form the factory. You have all the time in the world to change your mind later

Well done Jamie, so you're the fictitious buyer that keeps hyping prices up. Great car and a sure fire investment long term despite the crap talked on PH.

Fair play, what a car. You may have just made a VERY astute purchase. The best GT3 ever made?

Without a doubt. I bought a 288 GTO 3y or 4y ago for 460k and it was crap to drive frankly. Made of gingerbread. It honestly felt homemade. Looked nice of course. The 4.0 and in fact any GT3/RS is the real deal. I think the 4.0 is a bargain by comparison. If you haven't been lucky enough to go in one, then do whatever it takes. Its awesome. Ever since my first drive at PEC Silverstone I knew I'd made a big error turning down my build a lot. Still paying for it now.

This wasn't about values per se. Its just a highly desirable object. Kind of one of those 'I have to' purchases. I'm sure someone will feel the same in the future if it ever comes back to the market which will only happen if I cock up a property deal or two.....

Maybe I'll hold off on the decals. As much as I'd like to make money on it honestly I hope the market at least cools so we can all get back to buying what we want, based on driving pleasure alone. On that basis I'm happy. Sorry if that sounds glib but on don't believe a 4.0 belongs to anyone who doesn't know just what a special car they have.
