I think you will have to be pretty fortunate to pass. My 6.2 notched up 103db at Brands last year (static at 3/4 revs with clutch depressed) on standard pipes, which sounded high to me but I asked the test chap to show me the reading.

I see 105-106db regularly.

But whether they let you on or not depends on the tester and the venue. For example Bedford limits are very low, but the testers there know that the high-ish static readings that GT3's give are more than a bit misleading. On drive-by they are almost always fine. The testers often give the benefit of the doubt to the car and let them go out. I always fail static at Bedford. They always let me on. And I never have an issue with the drive-by.

agreed. You can also complain to race control and make your case re the rear engine static test being somewhat disadvantageous for porsches and then as long as you don't fail the drive by, they shoould let you on. ALthough it is their call as technically YOU failed static. I always worry about the bit where someone in a bad mood that day can totally ruin it for someone that has travelled quite a distance to get on track

My 6.2 GT3 tests around 101DBs at Bedford, completely stock exhaust etc. Never had a problem getting in or whilst on track, although just from habit I short shift past the noise meter by the pits.

Having just been to Spa with HokumPokum I can testify that 997.2 RS is MUCH louder than stock 6.2 GT3 smile

Cheers

I tested 105.8 and 106.2 last week at Brands with standard engine and exhaust, although the car is on 50k with original boxes....

Good luck !

Static should be anywhere between 101 and 105 depending upon age and condition of the silencers and cats. Only the most generous of testers would let you on track at a 98db day. Good luck...

Did they let you on with the usual condition about tripping the drive-by sensors?

No, it was a 102db limit as it was an evening event. However, I took it for a good run up the road to make sure it was properly hot, then may have 'accidentally' given him a few less rev's on the re-test rolleyes

Never had a problem on the drive-by meter's which is the stupid thing...
